I sincerely hope you're joking. This is Little Richard who came up with that look WAY before Prince. It was Prince that copied his look!

hi, no way.

I can't remember the the last documentary i watched about prince.

The once i have seen, are ussually no good. Bought some cheap VHS'es & DVD's some years ago...felt ripped off afterwards.

So i am waiting for some ''Beatles-Anthology'' like serie about prince. Probably will not happen any time soon sad

but thanx....i will look at that particular one.

and indeed obvisously i was not aware of the comments little richard made about prince. But hey i also noticed some adam ant threads here, and basically everybody copies something from those who influenced them. So i cannot understand the disses he made about prince, would sooner be something to be proud of.

thanx.

^ That's OK. You can't really tell anymore on here who knows their stuff and who doesn't, it's a mixture of the ignorant and the knowledgable. Someone not recognising who Little Richard was would not be unusual and one has to wonder what odd kick poster gets out of acting all stupid?!?! Because it makes them look like a pubescent schoolkid.

i fell for it indeed, but that is just me taking things too serious and not seeing the sarcasm this time.

i'm in for a funny every time, so i really don't mind the joke.

the thread is also not THAT serious.

so i agree with you untill the word...''unusual'' lost you after that, but that might be just my bad english.

Thank you for your reply, Peer 1973. cool

Ps about Prince "a Musical Portrait": it is only about 12-15 minutes long... iirc.

This was released about the same time as the video for "Partyman", in the summer of 1989.

I had this: The Musical Portrait on VHS video tape together with an "Uncensored" version of the "Partyman" musicvideo (a more "raw" and unfinished version, the eastern woman swimming with naked breasts in the bowle, again iirc).

What a great time it was, to be fan of Prince.

we're going way off topic, but yes it was.

i had me printed a t-shirt with the SOTT cover art. You wouldn't beleive the positive feedback i get, when i wear that t-shirt.

onlly thing....the conversation almost always end with....prince, he isn't making music anymore..is he?...

but yes, it was a great time, in school we spend 2 hours of music lessons, only talking about the depths in the lovesexy album. (my first CD ever) and when batman came out, i was away 7 nights per week for weeks, just listening to the album 2 to 3 times with my friends.

(and not really understanding the negative reviews sad)

the new music was special then, and it remained special for months.

these days, he throws some tracks, or publishes an album and it doesn't feel like it used to.

I'm not talking about the quality of the music, that is yet another topic, but just about the feling of ''getting'' new music.

i''ve got some VHS tapes boxed somewhere, maybe it's in there somewhere. Just have nothing to play them anymore.... sad

thanx

Little richard seems to enjoy dissing any and everybody that could potentially take away a bit of the credit that he feels he's owed as the architect of rock and roll..

If tou can get your hands on the "Musical Portait" Documentary.. There's some amazing rare clips of the Lovesexy band rehearsing.. & Prince in his Dressing room joking around with Shelia E while looking in the Mirror...

Some aftershow footage... Its great.

I love the music within Prince:A Musical Portrait, especially the instrumental segment with 'The Ladder', it's one of the most beautiful pieces of music i've ever heard, wish it was offfically released.

(IMO) Prince records used to be exciting for a few reasons..

a) The music was always innovative and somthing fresh...

b) We hadn't heard all that he could do yet so he seemed limitless..

c)things were better marketed/promoted so fans could count the days, months, hours until a new release instead of the random way he's been releasing less commercial tunes since the WB years..

I think there's a different feeling now because we know what to expect pretty much and its just not as good or exciting as it once was..
