Apart from all the drugs you unavoidably do everyday in your food and drink, even the water you brush your teeth in, and indeed your toothpaste. Never mind those weird government sanctioned drugs you're allowed to have if a doctor legally prescribes them to you. All drugs all the time. But hey! that's ok. That's life.

But don't dare organically grow your own cannabis, because that'll kill you. Except it doesn't.

Cannabis may not kill you right away, but it can lead some people to psychotic disorder/ behaviour.. cannabis, extasy etc can lead you to psychosis, mentally illness.

That's at least what the doctors are saying in Denmark, and I have no cause to mistrust the doctors.

Sounds a bit to me like we have a lot of drug users here on this site.. - or at least people who want to defend the use of drugs.. eek

whatever, I wanna discuss Prince & his music, that's what I am here for. The subject about drugs, is not that easy to discuss in details in a foreign language.........

Either Prince was sick, extremely tired or high off alcohol or drugs when those photos were taken. Just looking at his eyes you can tell that something is off.

Speculation aside, i thought it was pretty much confirmed that Prince had taken ecstasy with Ingrid Chavez and that the Black Album was shelved because of a bad drug trip ? Also didn't either Wendy, Lisa, or Clare Fischer(can't remember which one) say that one time they went to visit Prince at Paisley Park and he was with Ingrid Chavez and they both looked and acted like they were on something ? The person basically said that Prince was acting out of character and was saying some crazy stuff. If i remember correctly i read it in one of those Prince bio books

Who knows if that stuff is true or not but i would say that it's highly unlikely that Prince has never taken ecstasy or smoked marijuana at least once.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

I think it had more to do with practicality. At the time he was coming up he was very ambitious and producing and writing for a lot of other artists as well as himself. That required time and focus that a regular drug habit wouldn't support.

Also, there were plenty of cautionary tales to go around, both by his contemporaries (Rick James) and his heroes (Sly, James Brown) to wave him away from those temptations.

Did he obstain all together all these years? Probably not, but it is clear it never became habitual.

And he clearly did enjoy more than th occasional libation in a celebratory fashion (see Michael Jackson/James Brown clip).

If the story's right about the bad extacy trip in the late eighties as told by Ingrid Chavez if I'm not mistaken, I wonder how he got it...

Or, who might have given it to him, or proposed to use/try it - and why ?!

I can't imagine Prince driving around his car to find a dealer or make some phonecalls to know where to find it and then go and get it - hilarious ! smile

If it was someone close to him, he sure got fired, and then suposedly never spoke about it again ? Weird, cause THAT's one hell of a story of course. Just imagine...

Then again, how come Ingrid Chavez never cleared up the whole matter again in other interviews or whatever possible situation... Cause the information we all have is from the Per Nilsen books if I'm right.. right ?

Hmm, someone should ask Cat about it, or Dr. Fink, or any employee close to him at the time...

I can't remember Michael Koppelman talking about it either in his spicy stories/blogs from the Prince camp back then. Although he started to work later for Prince I think...

Neither Eric Leeds ever said one word about this - too weird. They all must have one big story about it if it were absolutely true of course.

Just think about it.. We actually know little insde info on this, except from one interview (w Ingrid)...

Prince probably will never ever say one word about it... presuming he will ever write en autobiography - oh lawd.. interesting, all very interesting. wink

I'm very glad he's in good health.

Besides his hips/legs. However, that is not caused by a unhealthy life style.

I have good hopes to be able to see Prince perform in the far, far future.

And I'm so thankfull he took care of himself, and did not maltreat his body as some of the Stones members did.

I hope to see him perform till he's older than 100.

I've bought tickets to go to see 76 year old Palmieri. How fantastic is that!?!

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Fun Fact:

According to a research letter published from the National Center for Health Statistics, 38,329 people died of drug overdoses in the United States in 2010. 0 died from Cannabis.

wink

And that says what?

Here's the rest:

In 2010, 57% of overdoses, or more than 22,000, involved known prescription drugs. Three-quarters of those involved painkillers like Oxycontin and Percocet while another 9,400 involved some unidentified drug cocktail.

More than 74% of all prescription drug deaths were accidental, statistics show. Only 17% of overdoses were suicides. The numbers show how drugs in the opioid family, like Oxycontin, methadone and codeine, were often implicated in fatal drug cocktails.

An opioid was found in 77% of overdoses that involved benzodiazepine, a central nervous system depressant like Valium, Xanax or Ativan. The addictive narcotic was also involved in 65% of overdoses with antiepileptic or anti-Parkinsonian drugs; 57% of overdoses with antidepressants; and 56% of overdoses with anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing drugs.

The paper buttresses a Times investigation last year that showed a surge in painkiller prescriptions in California and across the nation has had fatal consequences.

Fatal prescription drug overdoses over the last decade have outnumbered deaths from heroin and cocaine combined, The Times reported. In nearly half of all accidental prescription drug deaths in Southern California, the deceased had a prescription for at least one of the drugs involved in the overdose.

The study was published in the American Medical Assn. journal and was written by scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which funded the study.

Don't be daft. Cannabis can't give you lung cancer. SMOKING cannabis can, but there are other ways to ingest it that are totally harmless. You can make a nice brew, you can eat it in a Muller yoghurt, you can force it up your Jap's Eye using an unravelled coathanger. If time is not an issue you can absorb it via the membrane of your eyelid using osmosis. Smoking jazz cigarettes til spliff smoke comes out of your drug end is the choice of the toker and not a necessity.
By far the most dangerous drug is Cake. It is responsible for the quadraspazzing of users, who often end up on a life glug.

Don't believe the statistics? Find one single case of a person dying from cannabis, ever. I'll wait...

.

Nobody has ever died from Cannabis because the lethal dose is far too much for one person to physically smoke in one sitting. It's impossible. This is a fact. Believe what you like.

.

Try taking a dozen aspirin for a headache and it'll be the last headache you ever have. wink

.

You know you can eat or vaporize cannabis and therefore avoid the possibility of any lung irritation, much less cancer, right?

You know that people with cancer use cannabis as a medicine, right?

.

Cannabis is a safe, natural, effective medicine... that makes it healthy, imo.

It's not a drug, it's an herb you can pick from the ground and consume without any chemical preparation.

It does NOT cause psychotic disorders or suicide. That statement is so asinine the federal government doesn't even try to make that claim. Don't take medical advice from anyone who tries to peddle that nonsense as there is ZERO evidence to back it up.

wink

If Nancy and Ron had smoked a spliff or two, they might have been more empathetic to tens of thousands of people who died from AIDS while they ignored it and put in place policies that unfairly targeted minorities.

Pshaw--lot's of people were experimenting with drugs in the early '80s... Came with the scene on the East of West Coasts at that time, especially in the entertainment industries... Not every person who experiments briefly with certain types of drugs, especially back then, becomes addicted to them... The stuff that is out now, such as "bath salts" is much more dangerous and addictive than anything in those days... razz

Drugs open the mind people! Especially LSD and Marijuana but like eveything else, don't abuse it! I can guess that 90% of the replies on this topic come from conservative people with narrow mind who don't have a clues what they are talking about. What about Prince on drugs? Never heard such a silly question, of course he did, he is a musician!

you know cannabis can give you lung cancer, right?

Cannabis ain't healthy, it's a drug and kids and adults too shouldn't smoke it (imo), according doctors it can cause you a psychotic disorder, and maybe cause suicides...

By far the most dangerous drug is Cake. It is responsible for the quadraspazzing of users, who often end up on a life glug. Lighten up, get some drink n drugs in ya, ecstasy pipes and 4 tins of Special Brew and you'd experience an epiphany. Let's me n thee go to a rave n get trolleymonged on pills n dance like divs to Trip to Trumpton?

most americans are on drugs .. heavy drugs .. caffiene cigarettes soda toothepaste anti depresants prescription drugs pain killers 5 hour energy asparin flouride alchohal SUGAR .. and yes they all cause mental and physical disorders .. people are stupid for taking these drugs but even stupider for thinking they are not taking them .. stay away from doctors .. they will try to kill you .. just ask mj .. the medical "profession" is the number ONE killer in the US .. FACT ... stay away from grocery stores .. most of the "food" is laced with drugs to keep you hungry and fat .. get water purifiers .. most water has flouride chlorine and now even lithium trying to get the public to stay content in their rat slave cages 10 hours a day .. oh and don't forget your "immunization" shots .. another load of crap designed to keep stupid people sick and paying big pharm .. prince is known to do a lot of prescription drugs, as well as experiment with other drugs .. the perscription drugs and alchohal are the most dangerous .. worse than heroin .. i would like to think prince hard stance on bandmembers not doing drugs is indicative of "something" .. unfortunately it usually indicates him doing drugs and wanting it to be kept secret .. just like the catholics proudly rant about being good, yet they molest little boys behind closed doors .. its always the liar that waves the flag of truth so hard .. I would even venture to say prince script and alchohal use is what killed his talent .. such a hard turn in in his output that never recovered .. eat organic .. eat vegan .. meat and dairy are all filled with heavy dangerous drugs that cause cancer and are banned in every country except the US .. gmos are poison too .. welcome 2 america .. the dumbest drugged up country ever .. hell even those cell phones are more dangerous than 'pot". cell phones are highly addictive and cause tumours in your brain .. but stupid people keep playing with them ALL DAY LONG
