Orgers who made this site fun.

In between they also sort of stayed involved with Prince his doings.

So, he still has a solid fan base of orgers who actually are more interested in eachother than P.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

His talent alone! Prince can always be around because he writes, plays, composes, and arranges all his own music. He doesn't need to rely on anyone but himself. Plus he is a great showman on stage, so all this will keep Prince around as long as he wants to be around.

true, his 80s output has propelled him far, but there are many popular 80s artists that haven't continued their careers with the same artistic integrity/variety (if at all). there is definitely something else going on! true talent maybe? even at a diminished power his talent is better than most (all?) modern artists.

it's not really the talent (in my opinion) as it's the world he created from his 80s output, the image vision, the shows and I think the 80s' output includeds the 'outtakes'. The 1976-1989 period was such a mysterious creative time. That I don't think we ever get enough of it.

Anything that fits in or goes along side with that makes it all work

Most fans would go crazy if we got a cut of the 6.7.1985 ATWIAD Masquerade Ball Birthday show, not really a 2004 show

I hear long telomeres have to do with it.
Plus tea, good diet, keeping active, and staying away from cigs, alcohol, and illicit drugs.
It's working for him so far!

The key to longevity for anyone is to keep breathing. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's straight up his unmatched talent, his constant release of new music, and always being on tour so he is never forgotten. Also let's not forget his Mystery, Genius and Controversial personality. I also believe he has a certain Aura around him to attract people to him.

Another great post! You bring up some good points that I did not think about.

No doubt. It took me a little while to fully understand and figure all that out, but once I did I realized there is always going to be haters on the internet. Don't let anybody sway your opinion or Prince support just because they have certain expectations. So in the end each person just gotta do what makes them happiest. Prince does that and I will always support his Genius. An artist like Prince will always sell out Venues because his talent over-rides everything else.

Because his authenticity as a true mega-talent continually shine through no matter what. When it is all said and done he can still just go on stage by himself with just a guitar and a mike and create magic.

i'd say prince's longevity stems from his belief in his talent as a gifted musician and his confidence in his abilities. not sure if he's vain about his handsome male beautiful looks.

Staying power.... obviously,

And Prince's hard work, lots of that.

Prince is an original too, the press is still doing reviews of his albums..

Although his recent music ain't that powerful, he is still managing to sell some copies.

His fans' loyalty, --- we are still around 50 - 100,000 followers internationally, (that's my guess),

And even the worst Prince albums still contains 2-3-4 good songs....

We -the fans- haven't given up, not yet.. wink

although prince "learned" and "gleaned" his talents from the best, he added his own twist in that he writes and produces his own music and plays most of the instruments on his albums. Earning 33 nominations, Prince has won seven Grammys. He also has had two albums − 1999 and Purple Rain − awarded the Grammy Hall of Fame Award.

yeah, he borrowed like most other musicians have, but he took his talent roads ahead of many if not most of his predecessors.

according to:

The Rolling Stone

Prince Biography

excerpt:

"No other pop star could match the range of his talents, which included not just singing and dancing but also composing, producing, and playing many, many instruments. In fact, Prince played nearly all the instruments on his first five albums, and has produced himself since signing with Warner Bros. at age 21."
