"2nite": discrimination towards the unemployed?

Maybe that's why so many fellows here hated Bria back in 2009, because they were unemployed and mad that she'd reject them? lol lol

But seriously this line "note 2 self, must avoid broke back busters unemployed"... eek eek eek

So basically an unemployed man is not good enough for Bria? What if he's a hard working man who just CAN'T find an employment despite his efforts? Was it really cool, in a country just plagued by an economical crisis, to sing such lyrics?

Note that i'm not pointing finders at Bria, for all we know Prince may as well have written these lyrics.

U'll probably say that I make such a big deal of such an unimportant lyric but still... I was always a bit upset by these... (and before u ask, i WAS emplyed when the album came out lol )

Opinions?

Ridiculous. Would you get romantically involved with someone who had no prospects? Security is a vital part of relationships, isn't it?

Jesus! What kind of a mentality is this???

4 one thing an unemployed person is not someone with no prospects! They can be looking 4 a job and eventually get one, enemployment isn't like perpetual damnation!

4 another thing I don't really believe the economical condition of someone has to be taken into account unless the gap is enormous (a very rich with a very poor can't do a thing together) or unless the one who has the lesser income asks the other to pay for him/her (which doesn't have to be the case, some people DO have dignity).

Do I understand that basically u r saying that only because one is unemployed, no matter their efforts to find a decent source of income and their dignity regarding their current situation, they should be banned from having a love relationship until they get a job??? eek eek eek Dude, that's HARSH!!! lol

They do, but they don't tell everyone their dirty secrets. Maybe Bria banged all of prince's bodyguards and this song is just a little lie to keep prince's $ rollin'.

Harsh, but realistic! If you don't have a job, you need to spend your money on food and shelter, not dating!

YES i noticed it and wondered about this lyric however I later believe she's is using the term to mean unused, ie. the 'broke back busters' (are these meant to be gay people ref. Brokeback Mountain???) are not doing anything useful for her as they aren't interested in women!?

I've never really thought about it because I never listen to this song, it's the only song I skip on this CD, can't stand it. cool
She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me?

I think it's everybody's right to choose who they wanna fuck, even if we don't like it (because maybe we can't live up to their expectations).

If she wants to sing about avoiding unemployed people, we have to either deal with it and acknowledge we're got good enough for Bria (if we don't have a job, that is), or simply try harder and get a job!

shrug

I don't know Bria's intention behind the lyrics.

My experience with this topic:

guys prefer rich girls with jobs or money.

And let her pay for his costs, stereo, car, etcetera.

So he can spend his own money in the club, pretending to be rich and impress other girls/people.

Guys don't want unemployed girls.

Only insecure guys want the unemployed girls.

Guys with low self esteem think they have to buy a girl's love.
If she doesn't need him for the money, he has to show his personality.

Same for girls.

Some girls have little self esteem and will settle for any man.

And some girls don't want to be with somebody who only brings financial troubles or stress. They prefer to be happy, so stay single and enjoy their own money, or be with a man who can keep a job.

It just what kind of relationship you want to be in, I guess.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Wow, haha, you're going out on quite a limb in your post, and while I was reading along, I felt like there was a danger you would say something that will make your whole post crash and fall down. But, as it stands, you're actually talking sense. lol

Come on, we all know that Prince wrote her album, but I'm REALLY REALLY hoping that "2nite" is the exception and that Bria actually wrote it, because it's, well... it's pretty crappy.
