Unused Prince artwork by Neon Park

Prince commissioned legendary artist Neon Park to do him an album cover in the 80's. It's not clear which but possibly Roadhouse Garden.

The artwork was never used but here it is.

If you're not familiar with Neon Park, he did album covers for Little Feat, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Dr. John and the Beach Boys, amongst others.

Lose the hair, erase the mustache, this would looke exactly like the aliens from The Fourth Kind.

It is definitely a great art piece though for sure.

Very cool, but do you mean Dream Factory? Roadhouse Garden wasn't an album concept until the late 90s, was it?

Can't be true, that is absolutely horrible. If this is legit, it was canned for good reason. Horrible horrible. Neon Park's artwork is purpously trashy, but that Prince painting is beyond trashy.

the hair is Purple Rain big and style/

.

almost Sign o the Timish, maybe not as big as Purple Rain?

.

but from an interview with Susannah, Prince 'commissioned' her to do the artwork for Dream Factory

.

She said there were 2 pieces: 1 simple with Dream Factory and art dripping out of the letters almost 1999ish and the 2nd was a drawing of someone/Susannah facing away from the cover opening grand doors to the Dream Factory with imagery inside. Then the "backside"? or inside having a collage of Prince bandmembers and others. Cat also noted in a interview that her peach outfit was originally created for Susannah and the Dream Factory

,

It could be a possibility of a Dream Factory concept, maybe he didn't like it and had Susannah work on something

If that was in the Kids bedroom large and of to the side in shadows, it would have added a nice touch to any scene down there

I absolutely love and adore it.

Just like Zappa's Mothers Of Invention's 'Weasels ripped my flesh', or 'In The Court Of Crimson King' and if I'm not mistaken, also the Erykah Badu's 'New Ameryka Part Two' are all album covers by Park I really love. Icons!

I'm going to use it for those few tracks recorded june '84 : 'Roadhouse Garden', 'Our Destiny', 'All Day, All Night', and make me a nice EP out of it. smile

And I'm going to add 'Pop Life'; since Wendy and Lisa worked on these songs as well as on 'Our Destiny' (strings) at Sunset Boulevard studios, September '84.

These string sections apparently were later used to the opening for The Ladder, so I'll add that one too. wink
