L.O.L. Tour Appreciation

A bit sappy I know, but I've just listened to bits and bobs of a recording from the San Fransisco show (Naughty I know and following the sight's rules, I'm unable to say where) and my god my neck is killing me!

I think after the last few years of a lot of people criticising his shows (which yes a lot of them were repetitive hit shows I'll admit) I think the man has finally proven why he is and will always be the ultimate musician and live performer. The choice of songs and their arrangements are something else. I was a tad skeptical with the video of Bambi initially, but as I had anticipated it was just early days and the band needed more time to get in tune with each other.

These shows have looked incredible just from looking at their set lists, but actually hearing it is making me go mental and again realising why I idolise this guy! I really hope this tour will expand worldwide, cause I think Prince has pulled something incredible out of the bag.

I haven't seen or heared the shows, but I can get a pretty good idea anyway, because I've been to Prince gigs lotsa times. And most of the songs he's been playing are very familiar. Bambi, I Like It There, The ? of U/The One... He's been doing those for years. Nothing exceptional here apart from the new tunes, but... Who really goes to a Prince show to hear Screwdriver?! U get me? He always kicks ass onstage no matter who is in the band but it's the old stuff we want to hear. That's my opinion. Prince 2013: total bore as a songwriter, but still a master performer. There! Ended this on a positive note anyway! woot!

Lol means fun in Dutch, but I don't think that's the answer. But I'm sure we're all very grateful it was forgotten...

AND ANYBODY WHO DOUBTS THIS BAND IS CRAZY! ISN'T THE RAWNESS OF THE MUSIC WHY YOU LIKED THE DIRTY MIND BAND AND THE REVOLUTION? THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS!

I've said before how much I'm loving this direction, I love the band members, particularly Donna and the music is sounding great. I'm hoping that with the delays to the album and single, prince has realised this band could create a really brilliant album and he's decided to not rush it and just let the songs flow. That's my hope anyway.

& I misjudged the sampler set. For some reason it sounds better in a small setting than an arena cause it's like him live dj'ing himself. Plus the band plays on top sometimes.

It might be raw, but nothing compares to the DM band and the music/songs they played. wink

I'm loving the boots from it so far. I hope he adds some more dates a little closer to the Chi. That version of She's Always In My Hair alone is worth the price of admission imo.

I'm really loving most of the Dakota and San Fan stuff. I've compiled them, and they are in heavy rotation in my car and home.

I am absolutely loving the boots of this tour! When W're Dancing Close & Slow, Cause and Effect, The Love We Make, 2Y2D, FixUrLifeUp - these have so much energy, Prinec is inspired again. I have to say he is sounding fresher than he has for the longest time and his vocals are on point.

If/ when he comes to the Uk with this tour I will definately be there! How can some of you guys spin so much negativity - listen to this stuff and just imagine actually being there - the energy is electric.

On repeat and a big smile on my face

Not sure I agree. Listening to 3121 Las Vegas Vol. 8 at the moment and I think it's so much better.

The wooh is on the one!

great tour

great band

he doesn't need 14 people on stage all trying to get paid - this proves it

but he needs to drop the Cars cover "Let's Go" and bring back Whole Lotta Love or All Along the Watchtower

excellent band. excellent concept. if anything, add more songs for him to play: The Ride, Shhh, Little Red Corvette, Villanova Junction, The Cross (let the audience sing the chorus), Electric Chair, Red House, Just My Imagination, Santana Medley, etc. and less sampler.
