They have quickly devolved into a Prince tribute band, but.... at $250 a ticket for a 80 min show, I don't think 3rdeyegirl is going away anytime soon.

Yeah right! He's charging two-muthafucking-hundredfifty of your American dollars and he's NOT in it 4 the $$$? Sorry guys, as long as he keeps asking prices like this, I'll keep making posts like this.

In a small venue after he's shelled out for the band/pa/hotel/haulage blah blah blah, no he's probably not making THAT much money.

Its a small venue, I dont think the price is that bad really, when the venue is bigger the price usually drops for an arena gig.

Go and see The Rolling Stones and their paint by numbers greatest hits package if you like, you wont get to use the toilet for $250

Here's how I look at it: how many of his other female protege projects that got an album deal got a SECOND album? Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, Carmen Electra, etc? The only one that had staying power was Sheila E.

I heard the S.F boot also and it was quite refreshing to not have to sit through a zillion

"put yo hands up...clap yo hands stomp yo feet.'..etc...

did not miss Shelby at all,in fact it was GREAT to not hear even 1 background singer running around &

screaming all over the stage. This was a rock show, seems he has dropped the hip-hop schtick for this tour.

Prince sounded great on this show and the girls rocked hard.

Reminded me of he Controversy tour, kinda.

I actually got goose bumps at a few points during this show.

That has not happened to me while listening to a Prince concert since the late 80s.

I don't understand what you mean by this. This isn't an indication of their talent.

1) The situation with Vanity 6 wasn't necessarily a result due to talent. Vanity bounced, right? Even still, she had records after anyhow.

2) Apples was mainly an acctress.

3) I got nothing for Carmen.

But there are others other than Sheila E but I think a glaring example would be Wendy and Lisa.

When did I say anything at all about talent? Nowhere. They could hypothetically be the most talented female musicians ever, but in Prince's world they could be gone tomorrow.
.

What I said was that the only one that had staying power under Prince's umbrella was Sheila E.

.

This thread is about Prince possibly being disappointed with 3EG, with everyone hinting that they'll be a "one album band" while under Prince's input. To which I pointed out obvious coincidences like Vanity, Apollonia and Carmen Electra -- albums with heavy Prince input because those girls were his also his pet projects that he grew tired of.

.

Your questions past that point about talent have nothing to do with what I posted. Where they do fit in is how quickly they are distanced from the Prince camp.

I was asking what you meant. That was the very first thing in my post. "I don't understand what you mean"

So likewise, everything other than clearing up what you meant has nothing to do with what I've posted, right? Unless internet dick-measuring is something that you're about. Which is cool. Do your thing baby boy.

Btw- I think Prince is not disappointed with the girls. In my estimation, if he was, he would probably pull the plug quickly. Even if it might be detrimental to money or his reputation, many people on here would agree that he does things like that despite those things.

Do I think the girls have staying power as a group after the tour? I think they could if they wanted to. In my estimation if I had to guess, they probably view this as an opportunity to advance their future careers they all lead their own individual groups.

Do I think they could stick around? Absolutely. They are talented. Do I think they would have come together independent of the Prince connection: no.

Sorry man, just trying to clarify that I wasn't attacking their talent. At least not until I've heard a full album of theirs to be sure.

.

Some of these women in his "employ" really have standout roles -- like Tamar or Bria or (enter name here) but they're all gone in a heartbeat when he tires of them or they start asking for creative control of "their" work.

I saw Sheila E with her all girl band (C.O.E.D.) a few years ago.

Awesome show, fantastic musicians, no attitude and rocking the joint like a motherfucker. They pretty much tore up the place.

Prince does perform for money.

Why else do we see the prices as they are with extra comment when they're cheap?

And Prince's lack of financial discipline is widely known.

well, I am less concerned what Prince thinks. More important is what the audience thinks and even more important is what you personally think. I think they are weak and substandard. For the rest if he is happy with this group fine with me. I take a nice boot from the glory days to make me feel better

A party to celebrate the anniversary of his birth perhaps, or a big release party for their first album together??

Sure. Did you check his books?

Did you explain why was late paying his taxes?

Did you explain why, when playing at the Dakota or the small venues of the LOL tryout tour, while charging higher prices, he still does the sampler set?

If he was just there for the performance and the art he would not do that.

These shows mainly attract hardcore fans and not the cheap hits-only crowd. Yet still he feels the need to spoil the concept. Because of the money.

And I thought this thread was about 3rdEye Girl? now it's about money. if Prince didn't like the band he has , then he will make another one! Seems happy when I saw him ,lol!

There is a clear reason why it is about money. Money dilutes the 3rd eye girl concept.

Seriously? Some fans act like they are Prince's accountant, hairdresser, fashion stylist, stage manager etc. Here's what the price of a ticket entitles you to "a show". That's it that's all. Also it's the hardcore fans who tend to bitch more about high prices(and everything else) not the so called "cheap hits-only crowd". The hardcore fly around the country chasing shows they can't afford and then expect Prince to play for 20 dollars so they can still afford to eat the following week. I fyou truly feel the concept of 3rd Eye Girl is being diluted then don't atttend any of the shows and stand on your principles. I'm pretty sure the crowd at the show won't be pondering their lost ethical fortitude while jamming to She's Always In My Hair.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I did not say we are paying too much or similar.

I did not say he wasn't happy.

I just made the point that money is clearly an issue here w.r.t. the art performed at the concert.
