Somehow....I found out about this album, even though very VERY little was said about it

3 questions.

1.) Was this a Prince album that he decided not to release, but somehow the public got their hands on, OR is it just some boots the fans put together?

2.) Is it any good?

I'd like 2 know b4 I listen 2 it

3.) Also, in no relation to the whole DePosition thing.... Is there a backstory to the song Valentina? If so do tell!

No, It's a bootleg, not meant to be or confused as official album release

As tracks vary from various years (86 - 90's)?

2) Quality is good to EX.

If you are new to any of the songs and love prince you will probably love it

*as i did when i got the 3 cd set back in 2002

The song is about actress Salma Hayek. Valentina is her daughters name. She and Prince are friends and she directed the video for Te Amo Corazon.

Think it was out in about 1997/8 - it was one of a series of 3CD sets by Moonraker/Thunderball before they rejigged the whole thing and released 'The Work'.

Still have them on CD, they're great looking sets, but pretty out-classed now by sets like 'Work It' - you'd be better of tracking that down for something more comprehensive. Deposition and the other Moonraker sets were great for their time though, nice artwork, booklets and best sound quality around then.

I bought it about 12-15 years ago.

I think the title of this cd was chosen because these were the days when Prince started suing the hell out of everybody. (I did not even know what the word deposition meant before infamous Uptown lawsuit.) And that was also the time he broke free from WB. That's no coincidence. When you're an independent artist you have to take care of yourself. And that's what he did.
