er

2013 is going to be big!...on negativity.

So Prince has finally released some new music which we may or may not like. I'm not very fond of LOL and said so in the thread about it. So far no big deal, just a matter of opinion. He played the well-recieved Dakota shows and goes on tour again.

But why then do I see threads about him killing his career, expecting more, no die hard fans any more?
What's with all the negativity all of a sudden?

i've been wondering about this too. to some degree it has always been like this, but now it seems more intense than before because it's not enough for those who are not into the latest project to just be quietly dissatisfied, they have to start numerous bitch threads.

i dislike gushers more than negative people to be honest. I find, they're more creative, thoughtful & passionate in what they post most of the time. Funny old world.

I don't really give a toss if someone gets their little feelings hurt cos someone dare badmouth a Prince song. If you're that thin-skinned and weak, god help you if you have a real crisis in your life at some point. He's not your family, he's a detached man (who you do not know) that happens to make some great, good or sometimes crap music. Who coincidentally treat his fans the same way (great, good or crap) he reaps what he sows.

Ahh the internet. Back off to aintitcool.com or reddit where i learnt it all.

Some have constructive points of view and then there are some who are like broken records. Easier to ignore them as much as possible. They like to complain about the same things but don't like it when you complain about their constant complaining. Vicious cycle rationalization.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Now I know why Prince wanted this website taken down. It's not criticism, very mean.

There's a very easy way to deal with negativity, and it's called 'choice'. If you embrace negativity, then you give it power; if you don't, then it has absolutely no power at all. End of story. smile

It might not be what it was 10 years ago but he still NEEDS this site. Fact.

You find negative people, creative, thoughtful and passionate? lol There's a difference between constructive criticism and one who is just plain nasty, insulting and miserable most of the time, when giving their opinion of a song/concert.

Not from me. I'm loving 2013!

And I have to say, I didn't think I would like the strategy of releasing one song at a time, instead of an album. But man! Is it fun to open each new day with the very real possibility of ANOTHER new Prince song, or what!

This year will be perfect if Prince tours the USA, generally Texas, and specifically Houston!

I say it has been much worse before. And that the constant bitching about the bitches makes this a more negative place than it really. If you stop giving those whose posts you disaprove of this attention, it would be nice. But as it stands you create your own negativity this way.

It may seem like that but actually it hasnt. Back n the day there was maybe 20%-25% of the ish that happens now. Between 2005 to now, trolls and negativity increased almost tenfold.

Prince.org used to have the reputation of being a Prince asskisser sight. When all the other sites and newgroups became defunct, it seems like they and their attitudes came here. People who literally used to bash the org and clown its members by name are now here posting as if they dont remember what theyve said in the past. A purple Aldo Raine is need to scratch symbols intop their foreheads lol. Not to mention, many of the troll and bs negativity ish was never countered and was allowed to flourish. Hence we have an org that we now have.

I mean its almost inevitable..if you have only one place standing, then you will get all kinds. Which is why it is important to have objective opinions be at the fore, and troll like behavior to be stomped the fuck out asap all the time.

Nothing new there but actually I would say so far this year the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive more than I would have expected esp. from people that are usually negative.

I think we will be getting quite a few surprises this year so there's a lot to be positive about.........i think the main complaints are the lack of marketing/promotion/clear website but those are more minor concerns... i do not see that as out and out negativity, more niggles until he gets it right.
