"Horny Toad"

(But I assuming most votes will go to Erotic City or 17 Days or She's Always In My Hair. All great tracks that for whatever reason Prince didn't put on his albums, which was a shame.)

Why do you think it was ashame?

You have to remember that it was something cool at the time to get a new song (that wasn't included on an album) every few months. It was fun anticipating the release of a single at the time. Not every artist did that. That's what separated Prince from some of the others.

er

Remember too that the good old LP held about 50 minutes of music as opposed to the CD's 75. There's far fewer b-sides from the 90s, the CD age, and that just may be because the albums were longer, so there were fewer leftovers.
Anywho, I nominate:
La La La He He Hee
Scarlet Pussy
Nasty Prince-funk at its best!

Hello (extended) has moved up into the top 5 for me lately

If he's ever before(We Can Work It Out) or after responded to a particular event, this is the perfect response

I tried 2 tell them that I didn't want 2 sing
But I'd gladly write a song instead
They said okay and everything was cool
'Til a camera tried 2 get in my bed

I was sittin' pretty with a beautiful friend ("Oh darling")
When this man tries 2 get in the car

That's the trouble I get when I'm Uptown

I wish U could be in my shoes
But they're probably so high, U'd fall off and die

And a smile is just hiding a frown?
Come now, isn't life a little better with a pair of good shoes?

A shame that more people don't know these gems. I remember Haley's book arguing that "...Hair" was better than anything on the ATWIAD album, and I almost want to agree with him. Mind you Iliked that album and several songs I love, but...yeah.

Then again, I do agree about his quality of B-sides. In that regard, Prince I would compare to the Beatles.

Believe it or not, a lot of people ARE familiar with his b-sides. Especially the more popular ones (Erotic City, She's Always In My Hair, Irrisistable Bitch).

He never really did 'real' long versions for I Wish U Heaven,

not one for Escape or Glam Slam

I guess the album version of Alpabet St was the full version

He did some kind of jam session for I Wish U Heaven and Alphabet St (this is not music this is a trip)

Interesting. If a longer version exists, i usually find half a song unacceptable. Was listening to some singles of his earlier and was wondering WTF he was thinking. Some of his best songs butchered beyond belief. The only single edit i dig is Alphabet Street.
