er

First of all: I'm not gonna pay to sign up, so if it's going to be like that again, I'm out.
As for stuff I'd like for him to make available:
-Dream Factory original album- on vinyl! I don't care that half of it ended up on Sign o'the Times.
-Dortmund 88 dvd
-Paard van Troje/ North Sea Jazz Festival/Melkweg live cds
-The Flesh.
That'll keep us busy for a while...

Go to the "Past, Present and Future Sites" forum and take Chiquetet's survey. It's a great survey!

I actually prefer the audience recording of the Power Trio recording over the soundboard track that was on the 3121 site boxed

if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

01. outtakes from the period between 1979 and 2001

02. new music. the more the better.

03. complete concert audio.

i don't really care too much for video footage. but some of the concerts he did

are amongst my favorit 'albums' so to speak. so clean soundboard audio from

those would be amazing.

like that glam slam 94 show where he did that amazing version of "space" or

some of his 80s aftershows.

but it's likely that he's still gonna hang on to his outtakes until the time he'll be

able to include them on remasters.

if that's the case, it'd still be cool if he'd throw us some stuff that won't be on

any remasters (i'm sure he already knows what will be included on, say, the

purple rain remaster, so tracks that won't make it would be welcome additions

to any new site).

and i'm also interested in anything he recorded between 1999 and now that

didn't make it onto albums. stuff like "what should b souled?" or song from

that "madrid 2 chicago" album etc.

I bet most of us here would love him to release just about everything that exists. lol

Initially it seems more important to me that the correct format for a new website is used.

I would suggest:

  • No subscription, clubs, lifetime memberships, orbs or fancy, flashy stuff. No publishing of religious, political or business related articles.

  • Just an online 'wrecka store' where you can reliably order or download just about anything Prince, in an easy way and at a fair price with a good customer service.

I still think this could assure him of a very decent yearly income and make his fans happy at the same time.

and what i forgot:

if there will be no more albums for now, how about the EP format?

3, 4 or 5 songs at a time that share a sort of theme or feel.

i'm sure he could have lots of fun with that concept. especially

since he works so fast and becomes bored quickly.

plus, tracks that wouldn't work well within the concept of the

more traditional album would probably still work very well if

they were released on an EP.

if he'd actually done this the very first time around that he got onto the internet

it would have been great. both for us and for him.

with the amount of new attention he's managed to get along the way with high

profile performances like the oscars and the superbowl and heck even the tour

in 2004 and musicology, everyone who would have thought "let's see what he

is up to online?" would have found a clear, transparant site where ALL his songs

had a home.

with audiosamples for all albums, singles and individual tracks, the amount of

traffic over those years would have been enormous. he would have steadily

broadened his fanbase and he would have sold 50,000 copies more of every

album in his back catalogue over the past 10 years.

why he never wanted that is beyond me. he was always so meticulous about

his music and the way it was presented. meanwhile, a whole score of stuff he

released since his split from WB is not available anywhere and even hardcore

fans have trouble keeping up with what was released.

it should all just be in one place. his entire discography. with audio samples

and an option to buy them.

If, if, if, if lol

You are so right about the post WB stuff, but as for the WB stuff that should especially be available. But some of it also has to do with not owning the masters. You know.

I think that maybe it's best if Prince let go of what he wants and thinks is cool and just compromise with what his fans really want.

it should all just be in one place. his entire discography. with audio samples

and an option to buy them.

Totally agree.

Plus I think he should work with Youtube, Itunes and such.

Just make a good deal with youtube but only give them a bunch of the lower quality stuff that is out there. Make a pretty deal with Apple too with steady, decent promotion for all his hits, but always with a link to the online Prince record store.

And then let the internet do its working.
