Love Bizzare Extended Mix Question

Is that really Prince is the one playing guitar at 11 minute mark? If so, that is pretty amazing. It sounds similar to the gutiar that is on Sexy Mofo, which he had Levi "fly" on the gutiar solo on that song. I know he has more of blues/rock/funk chops on guitar similar to Ernie Isley, but that guitar on the end of the extended mix is completely on a jazz tip. Which I know P ventured into some of that on The Rainbow Children years later.

Just amazed this is all P as well as him playing all the other instruments on this track minus the horns. That's him on the bass too?

I know P is a badass all around, just it's unreal how good this dude is.

Stop givin' this guy shit!!!

(I'm talkin' about the responses to the OP!!!)

It's a total Prince production. He didn't play the sax (Eddie M.), but he wrote the frame. He did play bass, guitar, and did the drum programming. Of course, Sheila was on percussion and co-vocals. But, there are sped up bass and guitar parts that confuse the whole situation. Not a song for the short-attention-spanned razz

Just a docu on the recording process would put me over the moon!

Prost!

The original poster refers to the 'Extended Mix' in the title to the thread, but provides a link to PrinceVault which makes clear that the album track is the full-length version, and all other studio versions are shorter edits. I am assuming that they are therefore simply referring to the full-length studio version from the 'Romance 1600' album. (Track length 12:18 with Prince's guitar coming in at around the 11:00 mark, as described in the original post)

ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Thanks Nayroo2002,

If you have any extra details on the production and process I would love to read what you got. I know P likes to do that sped up guitar for effect. I believe he would slow down the recording, play along and play back at regular speed. He did that with vocals (Camille) too right? Camille might be his natural falsetto which is pretty cool and wouldn't surprise me.

Please give any more details, Lynn drum machine? His dynamic with Sheila E. He pretty much goes in there and lays down the entire song with his "scratch vocals" she comes in and does her vocals. He sends off to the engineer and mixes are made right?

How is he pulling off all off this while on tour in 1985?? It's not like today where we have laptops and can record in the hotel room.

Just fascinated!

It's just the full recording without radio edit. I am coming in late on the game so it's the full 12 minutes I am sure many of you have heard.
