I agree, just a throwaway funk jam. Nice if you are in the room when the band plays it, but not something I would like to listen to a lot at home.

Oh I agree 2 that...but it was shared as a sample of one of the Dakota concerts and should b seen as such.

i'm sure this has been discussed and i know i'm late, but that rearrangement of "never take the place" has 100% energized my fandom. i feel like a goddamned teen again.

I just want good quality studio material, I am not interested in halfbaked live funkjams. Never liked Prince's live albums of the past 10 years either. I just want that stonecold synthfunk and rock that the Revolution did, to be honest...

No matter who was responsible, I just prefer that era in every single way. It was raw, funky and electric, just the way I want it. Later it all became too smooth, polished and predictable for my taste.

Rave Un2 the year 2000, that dvd is awful..

One Nite Alone...live, this is even worse, awful

Indigo Nights 2008 cd (W/ book), is the worst of them all, horrid.

I have seen Prince live about 19-20 times*.. in Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Germany and England, to be there and enjoy the atmosphere is fantastic.. but to listen to those released recordings mentioned above, well is "average" at best.

Strange why Prince isn't able to release a great -official- live recording..?

*.. out of these 19-20 concerts, I have only had 1 really bad concert experience: the Nude tour Gentofte Copenhagen 1990. Reason: it was bright daylight, outdoor arena, in the summertime, no atmosphere at all. The Batman songs were awful, and so were the Game boyz. IIRC, Prince only played there for about an hour.. maybe 1 hr and 20 mins..(?)

The other 18-19 concerts I have seen were absolutely brilliant.. great memories.. SOTT - Lovesexy and Gold tour beeing the best moments..

I also gave away most of my pressed cd bootlegs a few years back, only keeping the best soundboard recordings...

Never listening to them, so I have stopped collecting bootlegs, + I have stopped downloading recordings, too.

Back then Prince was brilliant, 1978 to 1995.

He is still hot live in concert, but his recordings isn't what they "used to be" BACK THEN.

still... let 2013 be a great year for him. I really hope for a Prince comeback.

Loving all the exclusives. I think the original concept for 3rdeyegirl was to include Hannah, Andy and Ida. I remember the shirts they sold at the Welcome 2 Chicago concert which showed this lineup. Of course once Prince found Donna and saw her talent he couldn't help but place Andy on the backburner and put Donna in to fill Andy's place in the band. This move probably caused tension between him and Andy resulting in her no longer associating with the NPG. Just my 2 cents.
