Nope, no love here, a song written quickly to prove a point to his record company that he could write a "hit" sing if he wanted to. Same with "I knew I loved you" by Savage Garden, both went on to become huge hits for both artists and the record companies have made lots of money [

"The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" was released by NPG Records and Edel Music and independently distributed by Bellmark Records ,The wb didn't profit off it whatsoever.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

No, WB didn't profit, but they were also his record label, and they weren't supporting him and didn't think he could make them money, so he wrote and released the song to prove his point.

Utter genius.

I suspect he doesn't play it live much because it's painful for him and reminds him of Mayte.

I have a mashup mix that turns the original, and Mayte's "The Most Beautiful Boy In The World" into a duet. Orger Ernest Sewell made it, and it's awesome.

I liked Ernest! smile

I especially liked his Diamonds and Pearls songs minus Tony M.

Dude was misunderstood.

Yeah, big fan too, although it seems to be very un-hip here. The single version is vastly superior to the album version for me - he hits some fantastic notes and great harmonies on the fade-out. I also love the end of the video from the Beautiful Experience with the additional little melody as he gazes down, the camera pans away skywards from the elder lady and then he walks off. Somewhat sad and melancholic.

I always thought this was one of Prince's most underrated songs among the fans so it's nice to see all the positive comments! I always loved the track!

The original single version is a pop masterpiece.

hmmm I guess I need to check it out! The album version doesn't quite do it for me.

A while back, I found a clip of John Mayer trying to sing this song live. It was...interesting. lol
