Jukebox With A Heartbeat

Only just heard this Prince song. Anybody know what era it came from? Is it from a bunch of songs I missed?

Just heard this for the first time after reading this....sounds cool....wonder why it didn't make the Choc Invasion or Slaughterhouse...it's easily on a par if not better than other songs on there....

The title alone is cool.

Only know it from this thread. It's a pretty cool laid back track. Reminds me of Sex in the Summer.

It's alright. I don't mind having it. But like so many of those 2000-2001 High/Peace/NPGMC era tracks, you can tell he's just not that inspired. There's no spark here. It's just more of the same, an evolution of the late '90s Emancipation/NPS/Rave sound/aesthetic.

There's a little bit of desperation to all of that material. And a lot of staleness. It's like he's at a crossroads and doesn't know why he's even bothering.

Fortunately, whatever you think of the album itself, TRC did re-ignite that spark for him, and it evolved intot he neuvo-classic Prince that we've gotten from 2004 until now. Even if you you loathe everything that's come since TRC, it at least doesn't sound as soulless, plastic and bored as most of that High/Peace-era material that we got from the NPGMC.

Madrid 2 Chicago, Here On Earth, Va-Va-Voom and My Medallion are my favourites from this era. Would love to hear them interpreted live.

vitriol

I never quite liked these tracks when they came out in 2001.

But I learned to like them when comparing them to the crap-after-crap that started with Musicology and seems to never end.

this song is marred by it's horrible quality. when listening on headphones, loudly, you can

pick up some more detail. i love the guitar bits that are going on all the time, including a

purple rain like feedback. it would have been nice if this had been released in better or at

least decent quality. not a very bad song but not a very good one either. it's just 'nice'.
