Is that a Rick James reference?

On the track "There'll Never B Another Like Me" from 2.10-2.12, on the MPLSound album, check it out. There's a whole of talk that i can't make out, then suddenly at the end of it, sounds like "..............Rick James!", anyone know what i'm talking about?

We're here, might as well get into it.

...be like Don Cornelius & Rick James!

Is about some thing that happened between the two of them on an episode of Soul Train.

The man said his name, so how could it NOT be a Rick James reference??? And just curious...have you tried Googling the lyrics to the song?

Whatever..... a) I wasn't sure he was saying Rick James, b) Yes, the lyrics don't contain backing vocals c) Learn some manners & take a chill pill.

For future reference, you can google search thread content on this site using the search box in the top right-hand corner of the page

In this case, a search against " another Rick James " gives a previous thread:

http://prince.org/msg/7/302486

Lyric transcriptions for many recordings can be found on sites such as these (although these sites do not address this thread question):

http://www.dtt-lyrics.com/

http://www.princelyrics.co.uk/

Some people here are just really grouchy. I wouldn't let it get to you. There are a lot of nice people, too.

Why don't we just tell everyone that starts a new topic in order to ask something to use the search function instead. That would really keep the discussion on this site alive.

First link goes nowhere.

Second link does not have MPLSound lyrics.

Third link does not contain the lyric referenced.

So now what??

Anyway... here's the link to the episode of Soul Train with Rick James that Prince is supposedly referring to.

First link in the original post works (it may not work in your quotation) and also points in the thread to the link you have helpfully supplied.

The other links were supplied for future use with the specific caveat: "although these sites do not address this thread question".

Thanks to the OP, I totally missed reference eek then again, my attention was pretty done after the "Back 2 The Lotus" track ended.
