The Foos were amazing. Saw them twice here in Melbourne.

Saw Prince three times and he too was amazing.

P has been my No. 1 for most of my life but Ive grown to love and appreciate the Foos over the past 10 years (during Prince's worst). So its hard to seperate the two.

But value for money, Id have to give it to the Foos as their tickets were half the price and the shows were non stop for 2 hours plus, whereas with P, I do recall sitting down and thinking to myself, "why isn't Prince performing!?".

Prince should win...hell Dave Grohl is such a huge fan that the Foo's win he'll probably decline and insist Prince gets it! wink

Very interesting and honest response. Just curious since I am in the US and did not atted these shows, when you say you had to ask yourself, "why isn't Prince performing", where was he? Did he turn things over to Shelby (yikes!) or someone else, maybe extended Renado solos which seem to go on and on sometimes? Just wondering

I saw some similar patterns back during the Hit and Run show that I saw and he would dissapear for long periods of time and let Najee play. One time per show, fine, but it was many and too many IMHO.

Foo Fighters had Tenacious D as a special guest!? That's gotta be worth an extra point or 2 in the votes. They're hilarious.

- The Renato (now Cassandra) stuff is part of the ´real music´ thing. Prince seems to be enjoying more the jazzy improvisations lately, and I love it (ok, maybe best for a Montreux fest than arena).

I was VERY disappointed when I saw George Michael´s Live in London DVD. It looked like a karaoke. The band was hidden in the back of the stage. But I understand that MOST people only want the hits and the presence of the pop star.

When it comes to Shelby, I agree. I like her, but I am already getting tired.

Pretty much this. Although it wasn't as bad as the previous W2America shows. Which was a BIG relief.

But I do remember when the Prince-less band performed (most of) Love Thy Will Be Done, and I thought to myself "get this shit off and gimmie some Head FFS!!" hehe

Whereas with the Foos, even during David Grohls accoustic set, the whole place was going off.

And as someone mentioned before, this show also had Tenacious D which was great to watch as well.

That's a good thing in my honest opinion. Listening to some of the rediculous comments being made about fans regarding his Australian shows, thank Christ they can't have a say. Yes, there were a couple of points in the Melbourne shows where Prince turned the singing duties over to the girls, but for the most part he was still on stage playing guitar or at least moving about the stage playing with the audience.

And what's wrong with tailoring a concert tour to the "casual" fan. Face facts. Princes absolute golden period was the 1980s. That's the songs people want to hear live. Even hardcore fans like myself. I don't mind a few obscure tracks being thrown in, but I like a good selection of hits too.

Owawa

Shoot me down but I didn't enjoy the concert as much as I did the precious shows. I had a ticket for a second show in Melbourne but I gave it away. What was the first big difference was that I was in the stands and not on the floor. As I sat in judgement of those on the floor all I could think is the floor people did nothing to impress me. I guess I didn't like the round. I thought he relied on the co-singers to much. I know he's an older fella these days so it's a different show which is cool. I sat there okay waiting for my favorites and they would seep through now and again. But then, from the edge of that friggin stage he pointed at me and Jimi and blew a smile towards us. Instant connection ! I ended up leaving before the start of the last encore. I was happy I went to see him. I still love him and the music.
