1 it ain't legit ..it's a boot, doesn't mean you shouldn't have it but do your best and don't spend any money on it.... (I know it's easy to say , but it is possible to do!!!)

Info on City Lights.

A series that has been going for years by different labels but must recently Sabotage has collected some of them and added more....their signature is that the are mainly Soundboard recordings.

City Lights remastered Vol 1 http://main.thedigitalgar...vol-1.html

City Lights remastered Vol 2 http://main.thedigitalgar...vol-2.html

City Lights remastered Vol 3 http://main.thedigitalgar...vol-3.html

City Lights remastered Vol 4 http://main.thedigitalgar...vol-4.html

City Lights remastered Vol 5 http://main.thedigitalgar...vol-4.html

City Lights remastered Vol 6 http://main.thedigitalgar...vol-4.html

Each Volume concentrates on a particular tour.

I hope this helps

A soundboard recording means that it is a recording taken from the soundboard!

Most recordings are from audience members with hidden mics with a lot of interference from the peoples around them ...you know the ones where Prince is doing something like Sometimes It Snows In April and you hear that girl "Oh! my God I love this song" and she then proceeds to talk to her other friend about some shite that happen duringt the week (Shut up Bitch) is what you end up generally thinking

...meanwhile a soundboard means, that what the band plays it is what you hear....a muted sound from the audience when they cheer but otherwise pure clear music.

And don't mind the guy asking you to use google....he probably knows what the difference is but would have great difficulty using English to explain it.

He probably used Google to help lose his virginity and doesn't realise that the inflatable doll he ordered doesn't count in the real world.

Obviously we have a young new fan here, let's not be mean ok?

Soundboard was perfectly explained above.

You don't really need to pay for the music nowadays, particularly bootlegs since you'll only give your money to third parties, not the artist. I can't tell you where and you must NOT ask on this forum (see rules) but there are many websites and P2P networks where you can find all the essential Prince bootlegs and more for download and for free. Just spend some time roaming on Google and you'll be surprised.

If in doubt, check an official release discography like the ones on princevault.com or wikipedia - if it ain't on there, it's a bootleg.

City Lights is a great set to have, I haven't heard the remasters but paid a pretty penny for the original set back in the day.

Why is it that when I say it, it's being mean, but it's okay for you to say to go on Google? I was essentially saying the same thing.

Being young and a new fan still doesn't excuse not being able to look something up yourself. He would've gotten an answer a lot quicker than posting a question on a forum.

He asked for advice, and I gave it to him. And it's not like it was bad advice. Google would've given him all the answers he was looking for. And I'm not even joking. Google answers my questions as well.

Unless it's an official release, don't buy it. It's completely unnecessary now - there are many Free releases out there of amazing quality.

You were been rude...which is why I mentioned you in my reply...in a rude way, knowing that you would be upset (yes you are predicable)

People need guidance at the start and once they have learned a bit then they can begin to walk and explore the world of Prince and with luck they'll soon be flying.

Your one line answer may have carried the require info in order to allow the OP to seek the answer themselves but it's presentation was crude.

I hope you have learnt from this exchange and databanks answer above is prehaps something you need to look at and possible study, so that in the future you will not be hurt by othersreacting negatively to your comments!

biggrin
