Small Club -- I admire it more than I listen to it

Small Club was one of the first boots I ever got. I had heard so much praise for it, that it was a top priority. It blew me away on first listen and I've enjoyed it over the years. However, it's not something that I find myself wanting to listen to often. Boots that I do listen to often include Emporium, the '86 Stockholm show, Columbia '81, and Now's the Time.

Anybody else in the same boat?

I do think it's overrated. For me the best and most interesting tracks are the first two. "Housequake" is a bit of a mess on this, but interesting to hear in such a messed up soundboard mix.

I totally agree about the first two tracks. People Without us cool, too. But there are long stretches of the show that don't thrill me.

I'm in the same boat... rarely listen to it too. However..I WILL listen to Rave from it. I feel thats as much a highlight as Just My Imagination. That song is a guitar and stomp workout on that boot.

Now thinking about the performance, Im understanding 'some' criticisms of his current live performances....

Yeah i find it a bit over rated although i can understand why it's where it is in Prince bootleg history. It's worth it for Just My Imagination alone why is just headbang faint

i still prefer 84 Birthday Show anyday.

I love Small Club, cool

my memories are amazing to this recording..

It's one of my 1st live Prince boots. In early 1989 or something.

I own the pressed CDs and the 3LP vinyl too.

This and the Black Album really made me excited back then, in 1988/89.

But.. it is also true I never listen to Small Club anymore.
