This to infinite & beyond. Love this guy, but can't see how a few minutes of shaky video recordings can hurt him; heck they could serve as free advertising. Why not stream these concerts or offer them for download for a reasonable fee? This probably means arena security will begin physically tackling concertgoers who even raise their phones above waist level. I have been a fan for decades and have never had the honor of watching him perform in person. He could tour for the rest of his life and every fan won't get a chance to see him. I guess his reasons for standing firm on this point far outweigh any counterpoint that might be offered. confused

Some artists do not mind. Other artists have asked for their stuff to be taken down. Prince is not the only one.

TBH, I understand him on this one, especially the tragic amatuer stuff that gets posted from the "look, i was there" crowd on youtube etc...No different to some of his social comments on society in 1981`s "Sexuality"...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

You people don't THINK.

At this point, when you see Prince stuff on YouTube, download it IMMEDIATELY. There's plenty of methods (none of them that difficult) to steal that stuff right off of there.

I have huge chunks of a lot of concerts he did in the 80s and 90s, saved to my hard drive that I got all from YouTube.

I really can't say that enough, don't just assume the stuff will still be there the next time you want to see it/hear it. Just immediately save that stuff to your hard drive then when it's gone, you've still got it.

No videos have been taken down that I know of. Sure, some videos get taken town for copyright but not from the NPG label.

I went on YT last night looking for a fix after having been off the grid for several weeks, and the first thing I noticed was how many videos had had the audio removed. So this may be true...I did find plenty of Prince to enjoy...just not some of the videos I remembered as having been there a short month ago.

Who needs youtube when you have google search wink

But yeah, it kind of sucks how kids who only go to youtube to discover new music won't really get a chance to be exposed to Prince but obviously he doesn't mind that.

It's probably just a takeover not a new company.

What I find suprising is how selective they are. It's as if some stuff is ok and some not....so it's a bit ambiguous. But yeah, no-one will ever beat viral so we'll get to see it...doesn't mean we have to have it! lol I just want to watch.Yeah Prince...doesn't wanna be our weekend lover but as far as videos go....yes... I'm not complaining all's fair in love and war.

It is referring to personal live videos of Prince ... for example, audience video shot in Sydney and Melbourne.

I don't mind his choice, but the majority of people who are anal about youtube do in fact offer live DVDs for sale every now and then.

One great thing to come out of all these live recordings is we will probably be treated to some mega dvd similiar to the Paris one from last year, personally my fav from last year, gives a totally different perspective to the viewing experience. I guess it is only a matter of time before we start getting 3D boots lol

Agreed, but I don't think it's the orgers; there are some P Fan pages on FB that keep posting them. His team probably have liked those pages because soon after the videos are posted, they are taken down with the law firm copyright infrigement note.

So much for the internet being "dead", his team has found a use for it, to "un-tube" if you will.

Dear Prince/NPG reader,

The internet is not dead, it's lotusflow3r that died...another black hole like 3121.

The internet is alive and kicking, which is why such active action has to be taken by the powers that be.

However, in these days of 'dirty fat bankers' and 'pin-striped suits' who, out of greed and carelessness have caused a lot of havoc for citizens around the world, I say 'power to the people!' If a video is well done let it rest for 7 days. 7 cannot be divided in 24 or 48 so I feel the timing is wrong.

And to quote Rhianna....Na na na na na Come on......

Kind regards.......

ps. Please can we hear the bass more often, it's really groovy and I'd really like to hear Paisley Park. I've never heard it live. Cheers. C U on ju-tchu:b

_____________________________________________________________________________

To the orgers, I do believe we are on this board 'with' this company taking the videos down so beware as we are not all insiders.....

Anyway, I'm cool.....I got the one taken down back via another channel. Now stop messing with my playlists hammer

Will you asses stop repeating the internet is dead shit if you're taking out of context? He was talking about it as a means for him making a fair share of money. It's annoying. Thanks.

I know that and there's no need to call me an ass.

I'm just making sure that Prince doesn't forget that while he might be mad at Itunes, he shouldn't let the making $ negativity seep through to his fans who just want to share and listen to his music.

They're not selling it on youtube and lets face it 1. He doesn't have a website 2. He hasn't brought out a cd since 2010. People are hungry for new material. Give them a chance to listen.

The technological digital age is the future and it's only going to get stronger. He has to use it to his advantage somehow and it is free marketing. He says 'music brings people together' and it does, whether in person or online.

Of all social media I think youtube is the best for the new generation. FB, twitter and the tons of others provide too many stimuli to the youth and the older generation are medicating them for supposed ADHD.

Instead....Let ..MUSIC BE THE ANSWER.....
