Prince
Prince Stands Strong Against Alcohol
27/02/2003 02:20 PM ScreamingMedia

Eccentric pop star Prince has such a strong stance against drinking alcohol he's even banned his entourage from guzzling any during a night out.

The Alphabet Street rocker showed up at New York hot-spot Rehab recently, when the club's owner sent over several magnums of Veuve Clicquot champagne.

But non-drinker Prince refused the bubbly not only for himself, but for the 50 pals he'd brought with him.

According to American website Page Six, after Prince insisted all alcohol be removed from their tables, the whole crew drank bottled water.

Also at Rehab - but not part of the prohibited pack - were Mariah Carey and Wyclef Jean.

Prince and alcohol...I think it´s a good mix. I always listen to Prince when I´m drunk, no problem.

If the man doesn't drink let him be this way. I don't drink too and my wife neither and we are both fans and really appreciate that (though we are not in favor of prohibition)...

If Prince doesn't believe in drinking, does that come from his Seventh Day Adventist up bringing?, because JWs think it is ok to have a social drink.

I don't drink or smoke or do any drugs. I think Prince realises they are traps and i think they are. Socially constructed traps. Let's face it no one ever lit up their first cigarette on a voyage of self discovery. As for alcohol most people drink because everyone else is. We are conditioned to drink.

For Prince to tell his touring band not to drink at all is a bit heavy though, surely one drink after a show is hardly gonna have them keel over..lol. Maybe he feels threatened if people use their own free will. Another sign that Prince is very controlling.

I don't think alchohol is an evil, i think some people are just irresponsible with it.

I mean, I really like Reese's cups. And yes they can be quite addictive; if I eat too many I will pack on weight which can lead to numerous health problems and shorten my life. But that doesn't mean Reese's Cups should be outlawed.

If these people are "on the job" so to speak, I can see where Prince has the right to insist they don't drink. But if they're off the clock that is pretty heavy handed for him to do something like that.

I'm wondering if he intentionally did this knowing it would show up in the papers, and further illustrate his current lifesyle.

Prince is, in fact, the reason I never had even

1 drop

of alcohol throughout high school,
despite the fact that nearly everyone I knew at the time was minimally a "social drinker"
(in high school, you can probably figure out what "social drinker" means..)

That said,
presuming that this article is true, it seems that Little Man continues to impose his (not always well-thought out) will on those he has hand picked to live in that interesting little cocoon/world he's created for himself.

I say this, of course, as someone who has a glass of wine (red, preferably) with almost every meal, & as someone who-
about 3 times a year-
gets "reasonably drunk"..!

I can understand the mentality behind "zero tolerance" in that if someone tries "a little" of something like that, that person can (quickly or easily) start that slide down into a "problem"..
at the same time, 1 can learn to be "reasonable" in the pursuit of such.. pleasures.

Really.
Few things in this world surpass the pleasure of a glass of
good
red wine
& a good cheese.

More power to those who choose to be in "princeWorld"
(Lord knows, they need it.)
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..
