This has always been one of my favorite songs! I've always loved the mode and feeling of this. It has always had a special place in my life. The lyrics are so simple, and truly one that resonates with me.

Who doesn't want someone to 'Love them for them?'

It's VERY resonating. I appreciate this track as one of Prince's best ballads! smile

Although under the circumstances; it seems to be a 'Diss' to Mayte, because she seemingly didn't seem to 'Love him for him' BUT Mani sure did. biggrin

a classic .... sounds like something from the 60s .. the bridge is mind blowing

its the song on RAINBOW where he just gets down to business an does a simple almost borderline normal song .. this is the only song on that wouldnt need a radio edit

whenever i want to hear some new music ...i make some - prince '99'

I could totally see this song and "Mellow" being pretty successful hits from the album back in 2001 on R&B radio. Like other people say, it is short and sweet, and I actually could not hear it being any longer.

I think also that it is a favorite with many fans because it is maybe the one song that everyone can relate to, and not have to cringe listening to because there is no JW reference or religious preaching, especially with that Darth Vader voice ala "1999" and "Bob George", where it actually worked for most people, but that's a whole other subject, sorry to stray off topic wink
