Glass Cutter

Do we know anything more about Glass Cutter other than what's on the PrinceVault site? Like, was it planned as part of another project, is anyone else playing the track, or what the hell is a "Glasscutter" (within the context of the song, that is)...

Knowing Prince's taste, the woman is so skinny that her sharp knees could break a glass floor while she's blowing him at the piano.

Some of these aborted projects. I would love to hear them. "Glass Cutter" so awesome.

Feel the same about "Madrid 2 Chicago" but from what I hear nothing more was recorded for that? from the engineer but I guess P only knows!

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

I always assumed that he was singing about a woman so hot that she made him hard enough to cut glass.

There was a very lengthy discussion about this at the NPGMC - and it was decided to accept the Urban Dictionary definition.

Baby got a cup o' glass cutter would tend to indicate that, as well.

The third verse says:

Tits bout as hard as arabian math
Water drops drippin when ya takin a bath
The towel unravelled and it looks like gravel
All a brother can do is just laugh

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Why can't all other problems be solved this way? Orgers are the Best.

That's not actually the lyric, though, is it? I know that's what the DTT says, but I think they're mistaken.

I heard it as "Baby got a couple glass cutters" ... which I assume means that she's got some rock-hard nipples or something.

Makes more sense in the context of the song.

I remember on his site it said he was joined by Sonny and Micheal. But I've also heard from others that he played everything on this cut.

I love this song. Great jam.

How about an album with the following plus 6 new tracks:

1. Glass Cutter

2. In a Large Room With No Light

3. F.U.N.K. (but with verses that aren't attacks on his fan base)

4. Habibi

5. Silver Tongue (to slow it down for a bit)

6. United States of Division

Hopefully with a stronger chorus than 'dodododododododododododoo'

blah blah blah

Princevault says it assumes that Prince plays all the instruments so there's room for doubt; I'm leaning toward believing that its The New Power Trio. On a similar note is that Sonny laughing in the background at the beginning? Also I wonder if this song originally segued from another one -- probably not since Glass Cutter supposedly is a one off and not part of a larger project...

alphachannel you may be right. I noticed Sonny's laugh too (now that I just went back and listened to it)..It's probably the N.P.T as you said and he might have played everything else.
