Prince putting out a live album isn't so far fetched.. he's done it twice in the past ten years. What is unlikely is that it'd be any good. The last two certainly weren't (imo).. and he'd probably fill half the album with Shelby or Andy songs.

I agree. It's also interesting how the performances on various boots sound better than anything live he has released including official things like soundchecks and rehearsals except for the exception of a few tracks.

I can't think of anything worse.

If he were to put out an entire show without any overdubs or editing in any way, then it could be really good.

ONA Live could have been brilliant but chose to include a heavily edited and mundane aftershow and the main show was made up of songs from different performances.

Certainly not what I want to hear.

If he put out an entire show without editing in any way, then it would be possible that it would be 90 minutes, and that 47 tracks on each disc would be Shelby yelling "Put Your Hands Up." Of course, it could also be an awesome show. I still think if he did it, it would have more Shelby and Andy than I could handle. ONA Live was at a time when the musicianship was more important than being a Diva. Now he's a total Diva who doesn't want to use his voice. Either background singers sing too much, or he holds the mic out for the auidence to sing. ONA and some of those 2009 shows were a wonderful thing, but instead of choosing the real band, he chooses to sleepwalk at this stage in his career.

Ok, we get it, you don't like Shebly or Andy Hello or his recent bands. Neither do I, but there are other gigs from other era's he could put out though, but he won't so I don't even know why i'm wasting my time talking about it. lol

As mentioned above, there are a shit load of boots, and at least the fans can make a better job of releasing shows than Prince ever could.

I think Shelby is really talented. I don't see the point in her yelling "Put Your Hands Up," more than 20 times in a concert. By the time she chants it over 50 times in a concert, it is at the point of Self-Parody, and does not translate well to a live album. As much as I like her singing, if a Prince concert is 110 minutes or less, and Prince sings less than 10 full length songs, I feel cheated.

Of course, the Overly positive Prince ass kissers could say nice things about a concert if Shelby sang lead on all songs, and had Tony M rapping on stage. I know Prince gave Los Angeles a few shows that were stuff of legend, but all 6 shows I saw in Carolina were either average to very good. Prince was awesome on every single ONA show I saw, and there's no reason he should put on a sub-par show when he is capable of legendary shows each night.

Prince is the best there is, but he goes through the motions way too much. Still, he's so talented, I'll continue to shell out money to see him in the hopes I get one of those 3 hour shows where he sings lead on 15 or more full length songs.

Blue-ray, DVD or video-CD: all overrated.
How many times do you watch a video?
Now: how many times do you listen to a CD?
Video resolution doesn't really matter. It's just a way to sell more content with more DRM.

I totally agree with most of your points here.

Shelby J does too much with the "Put Your Hands Up" It makes me laugh soooo much when I heard that. Hahahahahahahahha. SO FUNNY!

Nevertheless, Prince is so talented, and when he comes front and center like we all wish for him he puts on a show. But what I noticed is that even his 'Regular motioned' shows are exceptional to casual listeners.(Many have confirmed this to me??).So I guess we are just spoiled...lol.

In your opinion.

How many times do you watch a video?
Sign o' the Times & Live '85: lots.
Rave & Alladin: Once in a while.

Now: how many times do you listen to a CD?
One Night Alone... Live!: Once.
It Ain't Over: Once.
21 Nights: Couldn't be arsed to buy it.

Video resolution doesn't really matter.
It does to me.

It's just a way to sell more content with more DRM.
The sharability of the content means nothing to me, once it's mine.

Sure, if opinions are new to you then you have a point.

How often do you watch a show in your car?
Why is music suddenly a mainly visual thing to you?

OH?

So it doesn't matter how nice or clumsy they play, as long asy they look good?

Please think again.

Even without car, you get bored looking at the same video for a week or so.

The music you just put on again and again and again. At normal volume, at louder volume, with headphones, at that special spot, when you are in that shitty mood, you put it in your PC to reverse the audio to find hidden messages, you write out the lyrics, etc.

Now do that with video.

Here's a question: why are you bothering me? I simply said I'd rather have a live blu-ray than a live album. Surely I have a right to want what I want.

That's so not true. I have Lovesexy Live on audio and video and it's so much better with the visual. I've had it more than 20 years, watched it literally hundreds of times and still get buzzed by it.

Also the live concerts Prince has released on video/dvd I've watched at least several times. The ONA box set and Indigo Nights, I couldn't swear that I've listened to either of them all the way through. Why would I bother when there are boots that do it so much better?

..... what we desperately need is a 12 disc live anthology of the 80s / 90s tours. I remember reading the Alan Leeds interview about what had been recorded etc.

That would likely be THE live release by an artist ever.

As likely as the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow sadly.

Wel, hmm, not rally.

I read 'anthology' and that does not really mean 'everything', right?

Of course the anthology should stretch out a bit more toward the present and hit each tour showing the better parts without cutting shows.

Don't you think?

A live album??

I HOPE not...

As brilliant it is to be there and watch Prince on stage, as much his released live albums sucks,

Damn I hate them...

One Nite Alone.. Live,

and

Indigo Nights (or whatever it was called)

those 2 are so bad it is frustrating....

along with the Rave Dvd..
