I believe Eric Benet is covertly taking a dig at Prince in his new song. First he sings in falsetto, sounds almost (but never as good) as Prince. Then he makes a comment in the song about their (his and Manuela's)love being real, not "make believe". I believe he tried to sound as much as possible like Prince in the song, and insult him with some of the lyrics, but I don't think Prince really cares. I don't recall too many songs of Eric's being in this high falsetto voice throughout the song, it's obvious he was trying to send a negative message to Prince in the lyrics and arrangement of the song. Had anyone else noticed it?

Well, just so you'll know, I am not going out of my way to listen to Eric Benet, but I still do listen to the radio and the song has been getting radio airplay.

The song says "in a world full of make believe" not "your exhusband's love was make believe".

Uhm, I guess this is a joke, but I know nothing of Eric Benet except his first album and that he's now married to P's second ex-wife - but you know - *cough* Planet Earth, 20Ten, *cough* given away free with two tabloid rags in the UK, one of which is universally regarded as one of the most knee-jerk scumbag newspapers around. I'm sure if they had offered enough green, Prince would've done a duet with Ronald McDonald too.

Um, you do know how Prince's last album was distributed (or not distributed in the U.S.), don't you? At least you get fries with a happy meal.

I don't know who Eric Benet is, other than the guy that picks up other guy's scraps.

No, you are looking way too much into it. It's just a song, not a dig. Eric ain't thinking about Prince...nor is Prince thinking about Eric.

The song sounds like a really bad answer record to "Call My Name". The production is similar to "Call My Name". The vocals are similar. The lyrics are similar. I heard it today and I was embarrased for Eric. This is probably the third record Eric has released since he hooked up with Prince's ex-wife, that made me feel like he was copying Prince's style to impress a woman.
