If any of you are familiar with producer JAK3 and his "hidden vocals" videos, there is a new one out on Extraloveable and I must say that Prince doesn't sound so great when you isolate just one track of his vocals as opposed to hearing them massively layered...

What do you guys think?

So you would disagree that his voice in the main vocal line sounds weak and frail?

There is a bit of autotune at the 0:59-1:00 mark

Listen to the original, it's hard to hear in the stripped down version ... that little 'ooooh' is most certainly autotuned

Pretty sure that pleasant chap was banned for posting them in a thread here rather than just telling of their existence like I have done today

I'm listening to it now and I can't help but go back to the arguement that people are unintentionally comparing it to the original bootleg version. I can see your arguement that it seems frail and weak, but I wouldn't say that Prince's voice is not as good--just go to his concerts. The song simply has less energy than the original one. It's not the same song and I don't think it was his intention to have the same feel.

If it was not his intention for people to draw comparisons, then why would he cover one of his most famous outtakes?

Honestly, Prince is one of the only artists who fucks with people this way and it ain't cute. Release the stupid song so people can stop bitching about it and let the music speak for itself.

And people have a tendency to read whatever they want into things too, and hear shit that isn't even there as well. I doubt there's any hidden vocals or extra words in the song that the person who made the vid didn't read into it.

I like the vocal differences of young prince to now.
