Prince's opinions of other artists

If you could sit down and have a good old chat with Prince, which other musical artists would you like to get his true thoughts on? For me, I'd like to know his opinion of Pink Floyd and Morrisey.

I'd rather go through his record collection, just go back and forth talking about favorite songs, and of course putting some of his songs on from different periods in his career. Look for the most beat up copies because odds are they're the ones that had a lot of influence on him.

Pink Floyd (David Gilmour - guitar player, and Roger Waters bass and song writer)

Electric Light Orchestra (Jeff Lynne, amazing producer, song writer),

The Beatles

Donna Summer (the disco queen, 1978-79!)

Adam Ant

Amy Winehose (aftershow Indigo O2 London 2007, Rip Amy)

Bee Gees

Björk

Bruce Springsteen

Boy George (great voice!)

Chic (Nile Rodgers)

Trevor Horn (fantastic producer!)

David Bowie

Elton John

Fleetwood Mac (Prince has mentioned them as inspiration, right?)

Kate Bush (!!!)

Mick Jagger (solo, not The Rolling Stones)

Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) Neil's fave Prince song is "If I Was Ur Girlfriend" (IIRC)

Peter Gabriel

Freddie Mercury

Sade (The Prince song: SST?)

Sheryl Crow (She's on the Rave album?)

Village People (hahaha... that could be fun, gay disco 1978-79, amazing and fun)

Nice thread, haven't seen this before here, cool!

Interesting....love The The, & B.A.D.

I would hope that he finds Pink Floyd, R.E.M., & Radiohead plodding, dull, dinosaur-rock.

As for Paul Weller, can't stand that miserable so-and-so. I loved The Style Council though.

Andre 3000 - I agree with this one forsure. I loved outkast before I really "knew" about prince and when I randomly go back and listen to outkast or andres alone stuff I sometimes catch myself thinking "is this prince? Did he write this?". Maybe it's just me!

Tempting as it is to come up with a list, I fear Prince would just find some way to twist it into a conversation about religion. Love to be proven wrong, though. confused
