Replacing When 2 R In Love on The Black album

For me When 2 r in love has no need to be on the black album. it's on Lovesexy and I think it's a better fit to that album.

So I decided to replace it with another song from that era.

The contenders were

Witness 4 the prosecution version 3. This would have fit but the sound quality wasn't up to scratch.

Crystal Ball. This works well especially the early stripped down version, but I found the perfect song.

Shockadelica.

My version of the black album now has this as track four and it makes it the perfect Prince album. 8 tracks of dirty nasty funk.

Of those three I would say Shockadelica! It fits the dark mood of the Black Album best IMO.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I just love Shockadelica, it's the greatest of these 3 songs,

but this song belongs to the Sign O The Times era imo..

I would therefor choose Witness 4 The Prosecution.

When 2 R In Love is perfect on Lovesexy, I agree it belongs there better than on The Black Album..

Rebirth of the flesh wouldn't go..as the intro..':Le Grind' is the perfect introduction!

I SAY....SCARLET PUSSY!

I always think of Rebirth as an intro song and as previously stated Le Grind is a perfect as the intro.

I think Shockadelica works because it has that nasty edge to it, it has the denseness to it's mix similar to the other Tracks on the album.

As for it being a Sign song Wasn't the black album a bit of a compilation of songs he had recently recorded, 1986 and 1987. Rock hard is a sign outtake so I think Shockadelica would qualify based on it's subject matter, sound and date of recording.

I tried it out and it fits like a glove and makes the album even better.

I would have to agree with the above.

Although I think we have to ask ourselves why on earth did Prince put When 2 R In Love

on the album in the first place?? Any theories?

I would guess because he really liked it, hence it's inclusion on Lovesexy.
