I have one of those Musicology promo's, it's a double vinyl in a single album cover. It's not the Musicology cover though, it's an "Urban Division" Records promo sleeve.

Nice thing if that's yer cup of tea.

I collect the 12" singles so I could tell you all about which one of those would be valuable. I don't know as much about the actual albums. I would assume early ones like "Dirty mind" and "1999" wouldn't be worth as much unless you have "1999 II" from Brazil (I think). Obviously the original Black album fetches nice money and some later releases like "Rainbow children" do well. I also have this, although not really valuable, it is a nice collectible:

I know these albums cost me a pretty penny too, Mexican picture discs. There is some debate on if they are official or not, most say they are:

Something like 1999 or The Black Album on Vinyl...hee hee? biggrin

And when did the record companies stop making vinyl albums?

Does anybody know the value of old prince vinyl albums that are stamped " Promo not for Sale" that were sent from Praisely Park to Radio Stations, DJ's, etc? Are they valuable or rare? I would be interested to know.

I also found a ton of singles like the scandolous sex suite, i wish u heaven, mountains, anotherlover, lets pretend were married...sooo it was a great christmas cool

It all depends on what the album is, older albums will be worth more. It also depends on how wmany were made, some promo albums are pressed in their thousands. And then there is condition to take into account, a promo album that has been played 100 times and used as a frisbee is not going to worth a penny.

Nothing is set in stone regarding prices. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Gold stamp promos in record collecting in general are not worth any more than the stock copies because that is all they are, stock copies with a stamp. The only way they would be worth more is if there was an extra song on them or some kind of difference like being mono instead of stereo.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Or maybe a different colour vinyl?

Ehm... I own a purple copy of the Purple Rain album from back in the day, is that something special? I really can't tell.

I'd say that purple copy of Purple Rain is worth about $20 to $25

It depends. Rare pressings, picture discs, unopened and mint condition copies are always valuable

an official vinyl copy of The Black Album is worth a piece of change. I've seen it go for $50 and up

Purple Rain or 1999...not so much, every record store I've gone to has copies of Purple Rain. I'm talking STACKS.

you are refering to the reissue in 95...............

I bought Exodus on vinyl a while back but gave it away as a birthday present! That was back in 2000.

Saw in my record store they have two vinyl copies of the black album one had actual designs and stuff on it!!!!! It's not blank it's some limited edition Japanese press or something it's 25$ definitely stealing that one they also have a regular black album with nothing, but wow that one is incredible!

All accurate Black Album info can be found here http://www.theblackalbum.info/, that Jap version with designs on it sounds like a bootleg.

its not Japanese, like it had a price tag with Japanese letters but it looks REALLLY OFFICIAL
