Okay, also no Let's Work, Pink Cashmere, Sexy MF, When 2 R In Love, The Dance, Friend Sister Lover Mother Wife, When I Lay My Hands On U. I'll be back after the poll closes. lol wink

Some of those songs didn't perform well enough in the first round to make it to the final round. We'll be able to talk about it soon. In the meantime, if anyone hasn't yet voted, better do it now before Javi closes the poll!

Oh I know, everyone has different tastes in music. I'm just being bad. lol It was fun, but hard at the same time. It was difficult for me to decide on the numbers. I was just surprised to see some not make the cut to the finals.

Wow! 35 votes! I see that the last day of voting has been very animated. Thanks!

The poll will remain opened for more than three hours, so you still have time to have your say! biggrin

The poll is over, with 38 votes! Thank you!

When Doves Cry has won, followed by Purple Rain and If I Was Your Girlfriend.

On the other hand, the richness of Prince's catalogue can be exemplified considering that songs that weren't singles have made it into the top 25 (such as Joy In Repetition, The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker and Anna Stesia), as well as B-Sides (She's Always In My Hair, Erotic City) and even songs that weren't released by Prince himself (A Love Bizarre, a track in a Sheila E album).

I'd like to thank electricberet for the idea of the polls: we've had fun and learned a lot with them! And also to those who have participated in the polls since they began in April.

To me, this has been a celebration of Prince's music, which constitutes one of the richest catalogues in contemporary popular music. So thanks also to you, Prince! You may be a cunt sometimes, but you're great! thumbs up!

I think we can discuss many things about the results of this final poll. Do you agree, do you feel represented by the results?

And thank you, Javi, for seeing this through to a conclusion. We never would have gotten this far without you!

This series of polls should give us a lot to talk about, I think. For one thing, the next time someone refers to a particular song as "unappreciated" by fans, we have some data to determine whether that's really the case. The songs that made the top 25 here are obviously well appreciated. However, there are many other great songs that didn't even make the final rounds. In some cases, the reason could be that they just aren't familiar to as many fans as they should be.

One thing I find interesting is the placement of "She's Always In My Hair" at #8. It far outranks any of the tracks from the ATWIAD album. Should it have been included on that album? Should it have been released as an A-side? When people talk about ATWIAD and whether it was a good follow-up to Purple Rain, it might be worth considering why the strongest song from that period was left off the album.

I also didn't realize how much love there is for "Joy in Repetition," which came in at #11. It's a good song, but I didn't know it was that popular among fans. This isn't a fluke, either, because it has performed well in all the polls in which it was a choice.

I'm happy to see "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" in the top 25. I have a hard time deciding which is my favorite Prince song, that one or the Lovesexy title track.

There was a thread earlier about the best Prince song that he gave to someone else. The obvious winner is "A Love Bizarre," though, since it was a duet with Sheila E., it's in a special category.

Anyway, I thank everyone for participating. It's been fun. If the org is still around in 5 or 10 years, it might be interesting for us to repeat this series of polls and see how things change. In the meantime, feel free to use the CIVS website to start your own polls.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to do this project. The choices haven't always been easy for me, but it has been interesting. There's really no way to be disappointed in the final outcome; look at what we had to choose from. I thought Housequake, Strange Relationship, and more of the tracks from the Dirty Mind lp would've placed higher, but it's all good.

All my fellow orgers need to exchange personnal contact information with me, because the people make this place special, and I'd miss every single one of you if the org ceased to be.

Good job you guys! Looking forward to 2016... wink

Not what I was expecting. No Shhh, Insatiable, Scandalous, Black Sweat, Future Babymama, Soft And Wet, Sexy Dancer, Private Joy, Musicology, I Hate U, Purple Music, Wouldn't U love 2 Love Me?, or Do Yourself A Favor, Turn It Up. Interesting. On the other hand, I saw several that are on my least favorite song list.

Like Prince said though, they're all his kids. wink

I love Around The World In A Day, but, in my opinion, "America" is a total flop in the album. Neither its sound nor the lyrics fit well in it. Had "She's Always In My Hair" been placed as the opener of Side B instead of "America", the album would be among my three Prince favourites.

I'm happy to see "Joy In Repetition" ranking so high. I always think of it together with "The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker" and "Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)" as very idiosyncratic songs that excel in Prince's catalogue.

I actually voted, just chose the bottom 40 songs as last equal as could not be bothered ranking them all. My favourite only got to #10 but was #6 when I voted. When Doves Cry to me is alright, but there are better songs, I voted it about 20th

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
