THE BEAUTIFUL ONES / for the non-P fan, is it any good?

Dear All

I am conducting a test, which is difficult to be objective about, as a P fan. Therefore, I wanted to request your expertise, as you will each exhibit varying degress of "the sickness".

To the non-P initiated creature, is The Beautiful Ones a really good song?

Sure. By itself it is a good song. However, the song is strongest in the context of, both the movie and album, Purple Rain. Thinking of songs as a larger part of a whole, rather than a stand alone single, benefits most songs I think.

It's one of his best in my opinion. TBO is one of my favorite Prince songs.

The Beautiful Ones is my favorite song from Purple Rain. fallinluv I love it so much, it sounds just as good today.

It is an incredible piece of music.

Saying it's not a good song would be like saying making the rich richer and the poor poorer is going to solve the world's problems. You know, there are dumbasses that hold such views too.

yes. the kid that works for me wasn't a fan. this is one of the songs that made him a fan. he's 26, he's really only into rap, and this happened about a year ago.

One of my best friends is just a casual fan. He doesn't think everything Prince did in the 80s is pure gold and so on. One night I told him to put on "The Beautiful Ones" and crank up the volume. We both sat on the couch and just listened to the song. I knew what effect the song played really loudly would have him and he was speechless after the song finished. Of course, he had heard the song before, but never really paid enough attention to it or listened to it in such a focused manner.

Funny, these comments, because all my experiences with this song to the non-fan have been disastrous. From cringing folks to complaining customers from back in my music store days where i played Prince constantly. It's usually the screams towards the end that prompt it.

It's one of the BEST Jams ever! Clearly a remarkable statement from a remarkable artist! The vocals are stellar! EVERYTHING that makes this such a tune compliments all that we hear!

It's Button Therapy, Baby!
