EMANCIPATION - 1 disc results! Well I've counted the results from the 'Emancipation - 1 disc' thread. So the final tracklist for a single disc version of Emancipation, as voted for by you, is as follows.
(the tracks are listed in order of popularity, NOT how they would be sequenced) 1. SLEEP AROUND 2. THE LOVE WE MAKE 3. JOINT 2 JOINT 4. IN THIS BED I SCREAM 5. SOMEBODY'S SOMEBODY 6. THE HOLY RIVER 7. FACE DOWN 8. JAM OF THE YEAR 9. EMANCIPATION 10. MY COMPUTER 11. COURTIN' TIME 12. DREAMIN' ABOUT U I have to admit I'm surprised to see that so many of you liked 'Courtin Time', it always seemed like a bit of throwaway light relief for me. I was also surprised to see that most tracks got at least 1 vote (even the covers). There were only two that didn't recieve ANY votes; 'We Gets Up' and 'The Plan'. 'courtin time' is shite. What makes 'Jam of the Year' so great?
Where's 'Sister,Lover,Mother.."? What the fuck is going on!? "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

"Courtin' Time" is the ONLY song on the 3-disc set that I can not-will not listen to EVER! And although I appreciate your efforts, if it doesn't have "Savior," then IMHO, it's a waste. The message you're about to hear is not meant for transmission
Should only be accessed in the privacy of your mind The words are intense so my dear if you dare to listen Take off your clothes Meet me between the lines

I agree 'Saviour' has to be on it! None of the following could ever be on there: courtin time, style, we gets up, sex in the summer, white mansion "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

[This message was edited Thu Feb 20 3:17:09 PST 2003 by BorisFishpaw] It's the musicianship on 'Courtin' Time' that really does it for me and the track is a harkback to the swing era which is good enough in my book. Perversely, gems such as 'Savior' and 'Soul Sanctuary' are inexplicably neglected in the above survey. A definite lapse in good taste all round, in my opinion. . I always thought disc 2 was widely held as most popular.
Courtin' Time, Dreaming About U, Style, My Computer and Soul Sanctuary should be included for those somewhat quirky/beautiful Prince 'moments' that are on all his best records.

In the absence of having a cd burner, I've always made my own one-disc set of Emancipation just by sticking to cd2, for 2 reasons: 1) it has all my favourite tracks; and 2) it's the only cd that feels coherent as a whole. anyone with me on that? (and BTW - why the fuck wasn't curious child in that top 10? it#s clearly the best song on the album!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------
If u set your mind free, baby, maybe you'd understand

I subscribe, I would take away Courtin'time (one of P.'s songs I like less) and add Style...But there must be One of Us as well...I think we better leave emancipation as it is!!! [This message was edited Fri Feb 21 17:17:42 PST 2003 by LASTHEART]

Make Emancipation 2 discs and its UNBELIEVABLE. For 3 discs it's pretty damn good.
