Around the World in a Day era 1985 pt 2

Open your heart, open your mind
A train is leaving all day
A wonderful trip through our time
And laughter is all U pay

I've heard some people say that I'm not talking about anything on this record. And what a lot of other people get wrong about the record is that I'm not trying to be this great visionary wizard. Paisley Park is in everybody's heart. It's not just something that I have the keys to. I was trying to say something about looking inside oneself to find perfection. Perfection is in everyone. Nobody's perfect, but they can be. We may never reach that, but it's better to strive than not.

Supposedly written about Jill Jones, the 1st of 3 Powerful Bsides from the ATWIAD project.

the dog is the dog given 2 Jill by Prince

Initial tracking took place on 30 December, 1983 at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA (two days after In A Spanish Villa and Next Time Wipe The Lipstick Off Your Collar, the same day as Erotic City, and the day before We Can Fuck (later retitled We Can Funk).

She's Always In My Hair
Whenever I feel like givin' up
Whenever my sunshine turns 2 rain
Whenever my hopes and dreams
Are aimed in the wrong direction
She's always there
Tellin' me how much she cares
She's always in my hair

She's always in my hair
My hair

Whenever I feel like not 2 great at all
Whenever I'm all alone
And even if I hit the wrong notes
She's always in my boat
She's always there
Tellin' me how much she cares
She's always in my hair

She's always in my hair
My hair

Maybe I'll marry her (Maybe I'll marry her)
Maybe I won't (Maybe I won't)
Maybe I will not (Maybe I will not)
Lemme tell ya (Even if I was a gigolo)
If I was a gigolo all my life (All my life)
She'd still be there (She'd still be there)
Tellin' me just how much she really cares (She cares)
She's always in my hair

She's always in my hair
My hair

Listen
Whenever I feel like givin' up
Whenever my sunshine turns 2 rain
Whenever my hopes and dreams
Are aimed in the wrong direction
She's always there
Tellin' me just how much she cares (Tellin' me how much she cares)
Tellin' me...she's always in my hair (Always in my hair)

She's always in my hair
My hair

She's always in my hair

Love this song. One of my fav b-sides.

Whatever happened to Jill Jones?

She stuck around for a lot longer than most of Prince's girls, but she never seemed to be the no.1

She's out there, still looks good, has a daughter

I think she's doing some underground stuff

Jill was never 'attached' to Prince, she loved being a part of the Purple life, but she lived her life too

from the recording 2 the performance Sheila goes from Glamorous Life -> Romance 1600
This song has a strong Purple Rain music feel, most likely written/recorded before the incident that created the Bside Hello

"I told them that I didn't want to sing / but I'd gladly write a song instead". - Hello

4 The Tears In Your Eyes

Long ago there was a man
Who changed stone 2 bread with one touch of his hand
He made the blind see and the dumb understand
And He died 4 the tears in your eyes (Your eyes)
Many people came from all around
2 hear this man preach with glorious sound
He spoke of man in harmony and love abound
And He died 4 the tears in your eyes (Your eyes)

He died 4 the tears in your eyes (Your eyes)

CHORUS:
4 the tears in your eyes if they're tears of sorrow
4 cents may be all that they're worth
4 the rising sun each day assures us
The meek shall inherit the earth, the earth

Faith is a word we all should try
In describing the man who willingly died
Believe that your sorrow, hunger, and fears
Is less than the tears in your eyes, your eyes

Your eyes, your eyes
Less than the tears in your eyes (Your eyes
)

Initial tracking for 4 The Tears In Your Eyes took place on 2 February, 1985 using a mobile recording studio outside the Superdome, New Orleans, LA, USA, the day after performing there (1 February, 1985) on the Purple Rain Tour. The video version was recorded in April, 1985 (exact date unknown) at S.I.R., Los Angeles, CA, USA, and premiered on 13 July, 1985 during the world-wide Live Aid event.

April 1985 @ S.I..R Studio
Video shoot 4 Raspberry Beret

A few hours later, Prince is kneeling in front of the VCR, showing his "Raspberry Beret" video. He explains why he started the clip with a prolonged clearing of the throat. "I just did it to be sick, to do something no one else would do." He pauses and contemplates. "I turned on MTV to see the premiere of 'Raspberry Beret' and Mark Goodman was talking to the guy who discovered the backward message on 'Darling Nikki.' They were trying to figure out what the cough meant too, and it was sort of funny." He pauses again. "But I'm not getting down on him for trying. I like that. I've always had little hidden messages, and I always will."
