Which version was first, the band version or the solo version? Also does anyone know why two versions were shot? According to "The Vault" both were used, but the only version I recall seeing at the time was the "solo" version...

They shot a series of videos in one day, all of which featured the band, but being a solo artists record under the name Prince, they decided to shoot a solo video for the single. They just cut two versions. That happens pretty frequently, it's the part where they released them both that's unique.
