UTC is not an unreleased track.

It was included as a second track on the Supercute cd single sold at gigs.

It was also available as a download on NPGMC, and included on The Chocolate Invasion comp.

^ Hmm...well you could argue it was 'unreleased' by the time it appeared on the NPGMC...it was meant to be on Rave as far as I am aware...

Of course it would have been unreleased at one point, but that was then and this is now. Lovejunkie only heard the track a few days ago.

^ Me too. There is just soooo many. Dabbling with the idea of downloading The Work. Is it really worth it or is it just a bunch of filler with a few gems thrown in? confused

Download Work It 2.0, not The Work. Work It 2.0 is an updated version with the best possible quality outtakes available at the time of it's release. Since then certain tacks have appeared in better quality on other releases such as 30 Years Of Unreleased Funk and Box Of Chocolates, but Work It 2.0 is still an amazing release. The Work is outdated and in a chronological mess.

It is what you want it to be, if all you are interested in is pretty pictures and soppy love ballads then avoid this release, but if you have a genuine interest in Prince's unreleased music then Work It 2.0 is essential.

The snag about Work It 2.0 is that it appears they went overboard with adding too many versions of the same thing and mixing up the chronological order in the later versions. Its like the orignal Work 1-5 was in a pretty good order, 1 being earliest stuff, 5 being the latest but then they started doing 6, 7, 8, 9 which wasn't in a date order really, it was just outtakes from various eras that surfaced since...

I can see how that could be tiresome to some people, but I would think that someone who is willing to download such a big file would want as complete a release as possible. Even taking away songs that have more than one version, it would still be a huge release.

Good you got it.

Once you get your head round Work It 2.0, I would recommend 30 Years Of Unreleased Funk, it is 3 volumes of (mostly) wondeful outtakes and unreleased material.

Then you should get Box Of Chocolates, that one is a single cd and the quality of the tracks is unmatched to this day.

Once you get these, you will be pretty much sorted for unreleased material, there are other releases of varying quality, but imo these two (plus Work It 2.0) are the essential ones.

Enjoy.

I don't think there are that many hours in the day where I could be bothered. It's like panning for gold. I'd just end up blind from moonshine and bucktoothed.

Thanks for the tip. I have Work It 2.0 and Box of Chocolates, but haven't downloaded 30 Years before because I had sooooo many outtakes from many of the other boots out there. But since you highly recommend it...

It is quite possible that you have some (or even a lot) of the tracks that appear on 30 Years..., but sound quality wise, it's very good and has a nice few trinkets which may be a surprise to you.

It's a worthy release.
