This is my favorite. I love it because it reminds me of the poem "Unending Love" by Rabindranath Tagore. Does Prince often sing about his muse? Maybe muse is not the right word. Does he sing about a love that he is searching for? Can you please tell me the titles of the songs? Thanks!
I thought it was dedicated to a lover that nobody knows about.
I don't know Rabindranath Tagore, I'll check the poem out.

Tagore - one of only 5 books I took w/ me to law school b/c it was on the other side of the country so I didn't have much luggage space, plus I knew I'd be using all my eye-energy for reading law books. There's quite a few poems in there are searching. I remember one about a flowering grove - wow, I want to dig that book out again now!
I wouldn't really compare P's lyrics alone to any great poetry (any song lyrics w/o the music cannot compare to good poetry), but WITH the music the song can evoke similar feelings.
I took a listen to some of the suggestion here on this thread, and one had me in tears from the 1st listen, and another gave me chills. I immediately placed an order for Emancipation!
"Waiting Room" doesn't have quite the same yearning quality because it's an uptempo song, but also about waiting for someone.

I love Tagore. I often read the book "I won't let you go". He must have been on a higher plane because his words release the energy that he captured in his soul. Its supernatural. Which song had you in tears? I have to order Emanticipation too. Have you heard the song "The greatest romance ever sold"? I have this song on repeat tonight. In your opinion, what is the answer to "What is the real reason that Adam never left Eve?"

1. The Holy River. It was very personal to me, reminded me about my own spiritual awakening.
2. It's very obvious to me - and I think Prince & I are on the same page on this one, though I don't know him of course - it's that Adam and Eve are one person. There's no "Eve" until they are out of the garden; inside the garden they have basically the same name, like twins. That's not a secret to biblical scholars either - a theology student explained to me that "adamah" means earth/dirt and is the word for "man" and that "woman" is just a variant of the word for man or "adam." What is commonly known in english as the "rib" just means "Part" in hebrew - so God took part of the person and made another person. Some versions have the 2nd person made from dirt too. The theology student also showed me that "helpmeet" ("she will be a helpmeet to him") does not mean like an assistant, but the meaning is more like an essential part. One cannot survive w/o the other. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh." (Gen. 2:24). I think this verse is the basis of Prince's melding, in his mind, of the spiritual and the sexual. It gives a lot of context for his symbol too (male and female, He created them, the union of which is wholeness or oneness). He's had that symbol since Purple Rain (on his motorcycle on the album cover). Take a listen to "And God Created Woman" - same theme as "Greatest Romance" - "given half the chance still I'd run to your (woman's) side."

I can always trust you for providing so much knowledge. "the same name, like twins." Its interesting you mentioned twins because I am very much interested in learning about Twin Souls and I knew what Prince meant, I just wanted to know if someone else understood it. U clearly did. Thanks so much.

Does it smell nice and what does the number represent?
Psalm 31:21 Praise be to the Lord for he showed his wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city.
I think he means L.A.
Why Psalm?
Why not Genesis or Revelations?
I mean, please provide some backgrounds. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. |

Prince made a reference to this during a performance of the title track on the 2006 BET Awards; "Where's the real party at? Shake your tambourines! BET read Psalms; that's where it is."

Hmm, OK, but how was this related to the 3121 song and/or title aside from the year? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. |

Dreamin' About U - totally the best tune on Emancipation!
Somewhere Here On Earth is a class number, more jazz club vibe though than his more electrnoic sounding slow jamz around Emancipation. |

^^ Read. He performed the title track, 3121. Do you have a strong opinion that it's not Psalms 31:21 or something??? I understand needing to cite a source around here, because here's a lot of speculation, rumors and opinions (or plain made-up stuff), but I think I'm done w/ this topic now.

Well,Oubah , thank you!
After all these commments I decided to give it another try, and I almost like the song now. (I still call it a "gigolo song" though, because of the lyrics) "The public is wonderfully tolerant. It forgives everything except genius." O.Wilde |

Prince will always show a strong desire to communicate his thoughts and feelings verbally.
It is a highly personal song.
This song is like the 'glass slipper' if you will. |

Hmm.In this particular song I always thought the message was destined to all his female (obssessed) fans who would identify themselves to the person (?) he's singing about. Very selling with that kind of audience.
Definition of "gigolo song " to me. Marketing.
If he is honest, the song is intense. "The public is wonderfully tolerant. It forgives everything except genius." O.Wilde |

With Prince's thoughts & feelings are lifesaver, you see his needs have 2 be met.
This sounds seeks out, always seeking out some1 more understanding.
The song is beneficial & not 4 pursuing selfish & destructive ends.
The song is about Prince looking 4 a new horizon. |
