Wedding dance - song selection

So I just got enagaged and my lovely fiancee agreed to dance on a Prince song at our wedding. Sweet, no?

Anyhow, could you please make some suggestions as to which song to dance to?

The man wrote Friend Lover Sister Mother/Wife for his wedding, and I love the song, so obviously I am considering it. The One is also a song I love and I am giving it consideration as well.

What else is there?

Nothing Compares to U

She Loves Me for Me

Anything else?

Thank you smile

She's always in my hair

(Bit of a strange title for non Princies, but very appropiate lyrics)

A Case of U (Prince's version of course)

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

The way I understand it, that's a song about having broken up - "since u been gone I can do whatever I want."

John F. Kennedy Jr. had "Forever in my LIfe" as his wedding song.

Congratulations!

I had The One, Call my name, Extraodinary, and his version of La La means I love you for the assembly of guests aswell as some Joshua Redman and Otis Redding, walked down the aisle to Xhalation and out to Bob Dylan Wedding song. We had our first dance to Phil Collins (which was a compromise for all the Prince!) You can get a few Prince tunes into the party in the evening too - We danced with our friends to kiss and batdance... A-mazing day. Hope yours is too.

We had our first dance to that very song. Great choice :)

Had Venus de milo on a loop for post ceremony signing the register etc. After the formalities we walked out Steve wonder, signed sealed delivered.

Good times.

I have a follow up question that's semi related. I'm choosing the mother-son song for my son's wedding reception. He was born in 1984, so has grown up listening to Mom's Prince music. I could always rely on him getting the newest Prince CD for me over the years for any occasion including 20ten. It's an inside joke with us that I was in love with Prince but settled for his dad. I want an mid tempo song Prince for us, but I'm having a little trouble finding something "appropriate". I'd love to dance to DMSR for the fun aspect or When Doves Dry for the 'maybe I'm just like my mother and father' reference, but there's always one word or phrase that's not quite right. My other thought is Where ever you go , what ever you do from Rave. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I think it's "Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother, Wife" Unless, she's got a little something "extra" down there!

I sang Forever in My Life as my wife walked down the aisle and our first dance was to Call My Name. But you can't go wrong with any of the choice. Saviour is great. If I could play the guitar I would have sang that to my wife.

We're getting married in October - putting together our playlist too. Would love a lot of Prince but know that peeps need to hear cheese to dance so may have to go more for the hits than unusual gems (loads I want are ruled out due to language etc!). We're into a lot of indie too so I'm limited to 25 songs - 10 Prince, and 15 I guess other stuff and maybe related artists.

Adore is gonna be the first dance if we have to, but I guess then it'll be the likes of Kiss, Raspberry Beret - stuff people have heard of like - though sorely tempted to have Laydown at somepoint. Think its a delicate balance really - between pleasing urself and having people have a good time (I've tried parties with all Prince playlists and they've just not worked!)

Anyway good luck to you others get spliced innit. Maybe not the Ford Fiesta. No don't smash up that...
