Just got the 180gram Vinyl remasters...

and they're beyond amazing!!!

I'm on side Four of 1999 at the moment, the sound quality is unbelievable!

Nice touch that they even included the infamous bathroom poster with Controversy...I'm almost tempted to plaster it on my wall, but I'm still fighting with my straight self smile

Let's hope Purple Rain, Parade and especially Sign o' the Times get the same treatment...I can't believe everybody around here slept on this so far, this is more or less what we've waited for for years, where's the excitement, people??? biggrin

Any don't tell me you threw you record players out of the window!!

I actually recall these reissues being discussed a lot on this site. I haven't got them yet, as they're too expensive for albums I already own, but if they really are as good as you say they are, I might have to get them soon. Really, though, I never had a problem with the sound quality of Dirty Mind, Controversy or 1999. Parade and Sign O The Times, on the other hand, could definitely use a remaster.

The sound is amazing. I didn't bought 1999, since I already own it in vinyl, but I'll probably do it, because to my ears these remasters are really an improvement.

I bought all 4- Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999 and Purple Rain and they are all FANTASTIC!

I also bought the complete Japanese CDs, For You - Lovesexy set with matching album artwork.

I hope they do this for Batman - The Gold Experience.

cool

Japanese cd's aren't supposed to be a different mastering, are they? I know it was a hopeful rumor, but I thought that comparing waveforms, they were the same.

No, but they're nice... wink I may buy some too...

What we need is the Sign O' The Times über hyper deluxe platinum collector's choice box. With the album, the film, live recordings, Dream Factory, Crystal Ball, Prince's glasses and a Cat's doll.

Nope, don't have those on Vinyl, I'm afraid! I was however able to compare to my CD-versions and they easily blow those out of the water!

Honestly, DMSR alone was worth the purchase, it never sounded better!

I'd like to know too. I saw them and I'm building my vinyl collection again. If there's truly noticeable improvement, I'll spend the extra money. If not I'll get the original ones for alot less.

I still hope the cd remasters will be released some day...

A good cd remaster with a GOOD (I mean, not cheap) home sound system is...well, unbeatable...

Agreed. And I agree with an earlier post that these vinyl remasters are more than I'm willing to pay for lps that I already own, nor do I really have a problem with as far as quality of sound. I want the CD remasters, with the B-sides (and some outtakes beg ) killer liner notes, and rare photos.

I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
