Condorcet Album Poll: Batman-Final Results Available

UPDATE: The poll is now closed. Click here to see the results:

http://www.cs.cornell.edu...thm=runoff

UPDATE: I put the poll in the wrong forum (Music: Non Prince). In order to get the highest participation, I change it now to the correct forum, Prince: Music and More. The mods will erase soon the wrong thread.

Thanks and sorry for the mistake.

Hi again:

Condorcet Album Poll: Batman.

This is the next installment in a series of polls ranking the songs on each album officially released by Prince or O+>. The goal of this project is to determine which tracks should be included in a final poll to determine the overall top 25 Prince songs in the opinion of his fans.

For those of you who haven’t been following the polls, these are different than the usual “best song” threads in that they combine the preferences of all the voters into an overall list.

I am going through these in the same order that they were ranked in the earlier poll of the best Prince albums. Now's the time of Batman. This one is particularly easy: only 9 well known songs. wink

Please don’t discuss the preliminary results or campaign for your favorite song(s) until the poll is closed. I plan to close the poll on Friday, but I may close it early if the preliminary results are discussed on this site. This is to make sure the poll is as accurate as possible.

Finally we reached 97 votes! wink Thanks to everybody who has voted. This one is, by far, the poll in which more people have taken part.

There has been an interesting contest between The Future and Electric Chair. Sadly for me and for all who prefer the former, Electric Chair has finally won.

Can't believe I missed this poll Javi. I'm glad Electric Chair took top honors; that's the one I would've chosen as #1 too! wink

Interesting. My mom told me the other day that she is a Prince fan because she loves "The Arms of Orion." I told her that proves she isn't a Prince fan. This poll confirms that.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Wow "The Future" nearly took first place. Really?? Gotta admit I liked the song back in the day but it hasn't aged gracefully IMHO. Absolutely love "Electric Chair."

Good results, pretty much how Iwould pick em, except I would put Batdance and Partyman ahead of Scandalous. Electric Chair is a very strong track and almost dosen't belong on it, as its too good, The Future is also a great cut and its sad the album gives up its two treasures that early in. Batdance, Partyman are funky and catchy dance songs, but hardly first rate. Scandalous is an acceptable seduction ballad, the last 4 tracks are tosh, Lemon Crush and Trust are fair - mediocre, but Vicki Waiting is dross and Arms of Orion is unlistenable tosh, what the fuck was he thinking.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I'm sure I was the only one who placed Lemon Crush pretty high up on the list. Not #1, mind you, but still top 3. Always did dig that song, for some reason. I was surprised to hear it's not a fave amongst the fans.

I'm ashamed to say that arms of orion was my one of my favourite songs back in the day. My sister even got it played at her wedding just for me!

It's not a bad song really, in my opinion. But it's not exactly representative of Prince's genius, as it could easily have been written by Barry Manilow. Since this is the only Prince song my mom could name that she likes, I would say she's not a fan.

I was only 12 when I liked it and I was also into the lightning seeds back then, so I must have been a sucker for the cheese in those days! I'm glad to say that my taste's have matured over the years and I rarely play it these days.

I agree. It's not that bad, only a too generic effort. I think the same can be said, for example, of Diamonds And Pearls (the song), although I like it more than The Arms Of Orion.

Actually, I must be cheesy, I even like Graffiti Bridge. boxed
