Guitarists, favourite prince song to play?

Hello all, I'm just wondering what prince songs orger guitarists like to play along to? Don't know if anyone else does this but I put a big i-pod speaker on top of my amp and play along to songs, it's a fun way to practice and I always find myself playing along to prince songs the most,

the ones I love to play along to are sign o the times, i could never take the place of your man, little red corvette, automatic, let's go crazy, computer blue, when doves cry, purple rain, dmsr, the dance, fury, diamonds & pearls and thunder but i've essentially mastered these songs and despite there being lots of room for jamming (especially icnttpoym, dmsr and automatic) i'm getting quite bored of them and wanting some suggestions for other songs to play along to biggrin

I cannot play guitar but I love to listen to Prince play.

I would definitely try to play, "The Truth," "fascination," as well as "The ride."

Those are Prince's best guitar songs...those three right there, I'm tellin' ya.

It's an uphill climb to the finish line.

I've never played along with a prince recording .. but I like to jam around on 'when u were mine' the ani difranco version .. and an acoustic 'when doves cry' .. 'the cross' is pretty easy and fun and 'purple rain' is a good one too

i often find myself sloppily running through a variation of 'When You Were Mine' but in a different key.

Yesterday I played When you were mine, Purple rain, Kiss, Sometimes it snows in april, The ballad of dorothy parker, U got the look, the Cross, Alphabet street, The Question of U and the Truth.

I like to play them all, but I think I like When you were mine and Sometimes it snows the most. They both go really well acoustic and are fun to play. Sometimes I also like to play (along with) rocksongs like Bambi, Controversy, Little Red Corvette, Let's go crazy, Endorphine machine, Dolphin, C&D, I like it there and such, but mostly the ones above.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I love to play "Adore" on guitar. There is so much you can do with it.

I'm just saying...

U can say that again. With an acoustic it's simply joyful to just play & I only started toying with this song after the USA "Welcome 2 America" leg of the tour. I would usually started the "Adore" chords towards the end of "Scandalous"

How is that even possible? I'd love to hear that. That whole song is drum machine and synth.

Purple Rain is the best for making you sound epic whilst you solo for 5 minutes. Perfect tempo and chord progression. It is hard to sound bad playing this one.

Lately I have been playing his songs that are not so much guitar songs. Specifically the ballads, because I was working on a ballad of my own.

Adore

The Beautiful Ones

When 2 R in Love

It is interesting to hear these songs with just a single instrument and voice. They work in this simple format just as well as they work in a lush arrangement. It shows how strong his songwriting really is.

I've also enjoyed playing

Elephants & Flowers (this one has the same type of chord as in the opening of PR, that I learned from Prince)

The Cross

The Truth

Mad Sex

Little Red Corvette

Controversy

Let's Go Crazy

DMSR

and just about any other one that comes to mind

Dude, no way, that song is built on some of the most beautiful (progression of) chords. On record the chords are played on keys, but you can play them on guitar too. Add a little rhythm like on the album and you are good to go.

Oh man, don't forget Strange Relationship! It's a blast to play, solo or with any kind of band... such neat changes in the chorus!
