Condorcet Album Poll: The Rainbow Children-Final Results Available

UPDATE: The poll is now closed. Click here to see the results:

Hi again:

Condorcet Album Poll: The Rainbow Children.

This is the next installment in a series of polls ranking the songs on each album officially released by Prince or O+>. The goal of this project is to determine which tracks should be included in a final poll to determine the overall top 25 Prince songs in the opinion of his fans.

For those of you who haven’t been following the polls, these are different than the usual “best song” threads in that they combine the preferences of all the voters into an overall list.

I am going through these in the same order that they were ranked in the earlier poll of the best Prince albums. Now's the time of THE GREAT FAN DIVIDER: The Rainbow Children. 14 songs to rank.

Please don’t discuss the preliminary results or campaign for your favorite song(s) until the poll is closed. I plan to close the poll on Friday, but I may close it early if the preliminary results are discussed on this site. This is to make sure the poll is as accurate as possible.

7 votes. This time the start has been slower. Maybe I've started earlier, when many people were still asleep. Come on, you love it or you hate it, but you're sure to have an opinion on these songs! wink

This album is so bad, I voted a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The rest I left on #14. Really we must be near the bottom now

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Wow, this has been a really close poll! Last December has finally won, but She Loves Me 4 Me, The Everlasting Now, 1+1 Is 3 and Rainbow Children have been very near.

Making this poll, I've thought once again that this album is a true masterpiece.

Great participation, 59 votes! Thanks everybody. wink

What's most interesting to me is that 7 people apparently think "Wedding Feast" is better than "Last December."

I am one of those 7.

The amaxing thing about this album is that the favorites vary so much. I for one put Last December last. I love all the songs though.

I would like to know if my suspicion is true: Are the votes for the songs of Rainbow Children more diverse than in the other votes?

Yes, they are. There was never a clear winner, and 5 songs could easily have won. According to the results, one could say that it's not an album with clear highs and lows, but of songs of a similiar level; to me, and to many, similarly brilliant.

None of the other polls has been as close as this one.

Well, for me Wedding Feast is a fun experiment, the flaw is that he doesn't take it seriosly and therefore mocks it in his vocal delivery.

Last December has an annoying chorus, reminds me of Mother, sister, Wife. Too much power pop, but hey, it is way better than most songs from the 90s. So all is relative.
