I just don't know where to begin? Well let me start by creating a genesis to the feeling I am experiencing right now!

I have been a hardcore/Admirer of Prince's work for a while now, and I appreciate him within heights. I have heard SO much of his music, and still am within an adventure to hear more. He has so much music, and there is just always a new thing to learn and appreciate about what he has done over these past decades. His music speaks to me on so many levels much like Michael Jackson's music does. I have been appreciating Prince on more levels personally recently; because of the extreme mystery and detail found within the depth of his work. I consider him a staple and an influence on my life, and his mark will be seen in who I am for all time. My girlfriend on the other hand; FELT as Prince was too much in my life...Haha. Obsessed she would call me, and I would not deny it as much, because I am really appreciative of his work. She respects me though; so much; that for Christmas she bought me the LP of Diamonds & Pearls framed. I still love her so much for that! Thank you baby girl!

Currently, for only a short while we are separated from each other, in a long distanced relationship. She lives in Sweden, and she was able to work and attend at the "Way Out West Festival" which of course Prince performed. . I am in the states now, and I was not able to attend the festival unfortunately. Needless to say; she was excited to see him perform because she knows how much I love what he does, and values his art. My girlfriend does NOT hate Prince, she respects him highly for what he has contributed to the music world. She listens to his music occasionally and she greatly appreciates him, as with all artists she has any normal criticism to him; as I do with other artists and Prince too. ( I love him. ..but they're things I don't quite like about him...Haha) I always paint Prince to be exceptional beyond means though, and impeccable for his delivery and his whole persona. She would always agree to an extent, but still not see it quite the way I did.

THE TURNING POINT:

SHE ATTENDED THE CONCERT! She called me, and I was so anxious to know what she would say. Because while she was there, she called me a few times so I could hear what was going on. I heard snippets of "Little Red Corvette", "Purple Rain", "She's Always In My Hair", etc..BUT of course I did not hear everything on the phone, eventually the call dropped. Well she just called me about an hour ago with the consensus of the concert..AND SHE WAS MIND BLOWN! I was so happy to hear her happiness, she said: "That was the best concert I think I would ever go to...Prince is the best ever..he had so many songs and he nailed his piano & guitar work incredibly" I was just JUMPING OUT MY SEAT LIKE..YES! Now you see what eye see...Haha..

She and her brother both worked there, and her brother is a hip hop fan to the core, and I was curious to know what he would think. She told me he said that..Outside of Hip-hop..nothing got anything on music when it comes to Prince. I just smiled and just floored myself in how this man has this impact on so many. I, of course was so jealous because I wanted to attend the concert with my baby together.. BUT WE WILL! I can assure you of that! I still have not seen him in concert live, but it is a MUST. I heard all of his released albums, but I want the extra token seeing him live.

She told me "Maybe I don't credit his albums where I should, but he is PHENOMENAL live. AND he is; from the clips I have seen, I can testify to his amazement live. It's incredible, and I just wish I could have seen it with her. Hearing her excitement, and joy made me so proud to be a Prince fan. We both love Michael Jackson to the core, and often of course like many do; we compare the two in terms of why they're ingeniously different. As much as I love MJ, Prince is one of those artists that is truly gifted as well. His ability to put on a show is unparallelled in our time. Not to mention everything he could do and play.When eye see him live, I know my points will be greater then they stand now. lol. My girlfriend just elaborated on the genius of him. How she could not stop dancing, and how she was right in front of him waving. Haha...She also said he waved back and smiled.. She described it as a "sexy smile"..I was about to FLIP out, but I mean it's Prince for God sakes. LOL. BUT WATCH IT PRINCE! SHE IS MINE! Haha

She is working there tomorrow too, and she kept saying how she knows nobody will out perform him, and I believe it. Just by knowing how he does this all the time, Prince can't be touched.


I just wanted to share this with you all, because it made me so happy to hear she was impacted this way. I know she will be able to appreciate and identify with many aspects of what he does. If she was moved by this performance, imagine where I am going to be when eye see him live...I don't know how I am going to handle it. I know, I want to see him with her though, so we can both enjoy him. It's incredible how a performance can change someone. You can say what you want about Prince, he wears heels, makeup, etc. BUT he is constantly creating and rearranging himself. He is controversy! I am not here to just elaborate on why I respect him and all....lol. I just wanted to share this with you all, so you all might feel the feeling I feel now. It's POWER FANTASTIC!

Can anyone relate to what I am feeling now? Have you had a boyfriend/girlfriend/friend/family..SOMEONE who did not like Prince as much but saw him first hand and their opinions changed? Haha..I am not saying she will be on the level I am with him..collecting his music, listening to much as you can, etc..lol. But I know she won't look at him the same ever again. AND she was so close to him...

The point is..I am elated to know she feels this way and she had an awesome time! It makes me thankful. Even more so that her brother, who is the last person I would think to like Prince; felt his energy and power so well too.

I just am amazed and am on a high...Because now she understands to a degree, from what she told me..That he is the one you ought to see!

Exactly! That is what makes it great, the love between us! When we are able to mutually identify with a cause we both have experienced, the love just overflows! I love her! Thank you sincerely for your words!

I remember watching my sister's Sign O the times video when I was 10 & she used to play Purple Rain LP constantly in our bedroom when I was about 8, thank gawd I was innocent & oblivious to Darling Nikki! Ha ha! At the Meadowbank gig we went a walk & sat up at the side. I found the backstage entrance & peeked in to see standing roughly 20 ft away, looking out. Wonder if he saw me staring at him in amazement?! He had his hair all piled high & was donning a brightly coloured harlequin suit. Wowzers! At that he turned on his heels & walked away nonchalantly. I was hooked... & that was before the concert began! But the most significant part for me was during a song on the piano, he stopped & turned to the crowd & smiled- my friend & I just suddenly clicked & understood the sheer beauty of this individual. Hook, line & sinka- game ova! Ha ha So just watch ur gal buddy, she'll always have that far away look in her eye forever more! Ha ha! X

Aww! That was an awesome story! I really enjoyed that! It is so awesome you were able to see him! I mean that is just fantastic! The whole story had me smiling; it is wonderful when you hear so many stories and connections to this guy. HOOK, LINE, AND SINKA! Haha..I will watch her. She never thought he was as attractive before, now that he smiled at her and waved to her, she probably went bananas because of that. I mean we are talking about Prince here! He is a cool fresh brother! She better chill out though! Prince don't got nothing on me! Haha

Haha...I KNOW! I got to get myself to a show! I was suppose to make it to the W2A shows, but death occurred in my family which canceled my plans.. . But next time he comes to America or when I am in Europe (Which will be the end of the year) I should see him. He has been constantly touring so I should see him soon! I think this has alot to do with men being often fanatical when it comes to hobbies. When they're into something, they feel like it's some sort of competition to know the most. Both towards others and a competition with one self.

And while ladies admire Prince for how he attracts them, men admire him for how he attracts women. Who do you wanna learn from? Like EyeJester said, you can't even get jelous. If it was one man in your releationship it was ok for the girl to go "nuts" for, Prince would be one. Although, I must admit that it would be a bit too much if my girfriend constantly had fantasies about him and never talked about anything else. That's not healthy, haha. I'm glad I am the most fan in my relationship, but I think it's nice to know tha my girlfriend likes him too.

It was a nice read eyejester and ellasfella. Prince music is an important thing in our lives that means so much to me, it would be difficult to have a social life if none of my friends liked him at all.
