Turn Me Loose 2008 internet radio broadcast

Hi dudes smile

I remember that this broadcast was supposedly illegal (the DJ managed to get a copy and was flamed by prince for broadcasting it), but I also remember theories about the story being just a promo thing, and Princevault.com just mentions the broadcast without mentioning it being illegal.

Do we now know the real story?

Thanks cool

iirc, The "Official" story is:

The DJ begged Prince for a copy, promising not to play it on air, but couldn't help himself, and played it anyway, against Prince's wishes.

The "theory" is:

Prince wanted to release it, but the song was too dirty (for JW's), so he pretended he didn't give permission.

Your guess as to the truth is as good as anybody's.... biggrin

EDIT: BTW, I thought it was a regular radio station, NOT an internet radio broadcast. Anyone know?

I don't buy that story. A friend of mine that works for the station that aired the song said that P sent representatives to the station with the song. Then took the cd back with them. The station nor the dj (Kevin Nash) got a copy of the song.

If you want the real story, contact Kevin Nash. He is on Facebook and Twitter. He might can give a little more clarity to it.

That is true! I was listening to that radio station KJLH Stevie Wonders owned station, when he played it. The station was bombarded with request 2 play it. It was played more than once 2..That version was kick ass. Wondered why Prince stopped the release after playing it on Jay Leno...It was a return 2 nasty Prince. Guess he changed his mind & put it back in The Vault. Never 2 b heard or played again.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Very interesting story, thanks a lot biggrin I looked for Kevin Nash but there are several on FB and nothing indicates who's the one we're talking about on what i can c of their profiles. Would u b kind enough 2 help me find the right one (for example by describing the pic)?

I'd tend to believe this story. Is your friend 100% reliable when it comes to giving infos & telling stories?

Go to kjlhradio.com and you will find the one you're looking for. Yes, my friend is pretty reliable. She's never lied to me yet.

TURN ME LOOSE

You don't really know me
You just think you do
It's against the law in 13 states
What I wanna do to you

Oh baby you got ta turn me loose (uh)

If you really love me
Ya gotta give me what I need
Ya get your stuff and ?
I just make ya bleed

Turn me loose
Turn me loose

The board behind your head's
About to split in two
Whatever's holding up this bed will(?) be here when I'm through
Oh baby
Ya got ta turn me loose

If you like these blankets,
You better throw them on the floor
Brother girls(?) a friend of mine .... said
When it rains it pours

Oh baby turn me loose
turn me loose now

Check me [rhythym guitar solo]

Turn me loose [ladies only singing]

You don't understand
I don't do this nightly
But if I did it once
you want me two
more than lightly(?)

Oh baby ya got ta turn me loose

I'm much too hard to handle
We can never be more than friends
Speaking of which ya need to ? (Lie in that bed???)
or never come back again

Oh baby
Turn me loose

Renato, speak brother [Renato solo with Ledisi singing, "Turn me loose now, can't nobody bring me down yeah yeah" kind of stuff]

Turn me loose
Turn me loose

Haha. I liked the energy of that live performance, but I thought Ledisi kind of ruined the second half of the song with her cauterwauling.

Yeah the energy was hot, the set up was quirky but that swing low sweat chariot outfit those ladies had on was just visual noise for me, I like the lyrics, he drops a song here and there(good or not) that kinda tells us he's struggling with restraints, this song Lavaeux and Cause & Effect

I feel the color contrast and costumes worked well together. Especially with the oil painting background of Prince...
