Just because he uses a relaxer, doesn't mean that all his hair should fall out.

Just because his hair looks good, doesn't mean he has fake hair.

Just because it's Prince, doesn't mean he's lying to us (SIDE NOTE: lol)

Many people in this thread are running on a lot of assumptions and coming to their own conclusions. Just because you believe it, doesn't make it true.

time flies.

How do you know P has been perming for decades as you claim? Seriously. You don't. Maybe he uses a flat iron, pressing comb, or blow drier with attachment. That requires no chemicals. There is more than one way to get straight hair. Maybe he takes breaks from relaxing.

But can't all that stuff damage your hair in the long run?

Yes, but you can greatly minimize the damage with proper care.

time flies.

Does he get a different type of relaxer?

[Edited 7/27/11 6:49am]

First of all , is this question for u or for him, PRINCE has not been getting a relaxer since 79. but if he had been im sure that with a good hair sylist such as myself his hair would be just fine if he chose to do so, WHATS THE POINT REALLY????????.

Actually there's no point, I was asking a simple question.

Deng, you people are getting heated because I asked a question about his hair.

These are the threads we get when Prince doesn't give us a new album.

If he only knew.

I guess it is better than another "What if" thread.

The hell it doesn't. Either you haven't seen enough wigs or weaves, or you haven't seen enough pics of Prince.

LOL in 2011 I still meet people that didn't know Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac were wearing wigs all those many years. lol Hairstylists are good at fooling some of the people some of the time. That's what they get paid to do.

Man those toupees were atrocious. lol

Anyways... I believed he permed it most of the time. He probably didn't NEED a relaxer until later in life. Who knows how that hair was programmed lol

Huh?

Prince hasn't always used relaxers

getting hair straighted doesn't mean he used some cheap corner store relaxer

Prince has had professional people do his hair

And don't you know that even 'Black' people aren't the only ones that use perms and relaxers

it can but he keeps it short. if he is using heat to get it straight any damage will be kept to a minimum with a regular trim and the right products.

Since no one actually bothered to answer your question, I will.

Relaxers are damaging to the hair when the hair isn't properly taken care of. Once upon a time, Prince took great pride in his hair and I am certain he was paying qualified hair stylists to keep his hair properly trimmed (no split ends) conditioned and moisturized and nurished with protein for strength.

Now what's going on with his hair now? I don't even know to what to tell you! disbelief

I've been relaxing my hair since 1985 and my hair is just past my shoulders, thick and healthy. I'm also in the beauty salon every other Saturday getting the above mentioned treatments. shrug

Now that that's out of the way.

I'm here to end all speculation with Prince's own words, taken from the song "Pretty Man".

"Everywhere I go, people stop and stare. They just wanna see me swing this pretty hair. If there ever comes a time it just won't grow, I do it like my brother and buy some mo'"

LOCK!

Y'ALL REALLY NEED TO GET OVER IT

You don't know what kind of relaxer he uses or if he uses one at all. Some people merely blow out their hair and curl with an iron.

Some use natural keratin based straighterners.

And finally, if thick healthy hair runs in your family then you'll probably always have thick healthy hair.

Look at Madonna and all the bleach/peroxide/coloring she's used over the years especially her platinum days...she still has hair. Yes she had some accidents along the way but as long as your folicles are healthy then you'll be alright.

PRINCE HAS GREAT HAIR AND THAT'S THAT! lol

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
