Alrighty then lol

So, how did you get into Prince?

I had heard Soft & Wet but here in Cali the radio stations didn't play it all that often. So I dug the song but being a kid and there being so much good music at that time didn't follow up with getting the album. When I heard "I Wanna Be Your Lover," man that was it! I of course bought "For You," and the self-titled album. I Would by any magazine with articles or him being on the cover.

How about you?

I love Soft And Wet! The live version of that is sick! Also don't get me start on "I Wanna Be Your Lover" I remember when I bought "The Very Best Of" I immediately started jamming/rocking to the song. My mom actually had own the "Prince" album. So that was a cool little history to hear from her.

I first watch the movie Purple Rain, and I love the song When Doves Cry. I like him but I was more of a causal listener then cause that was the only thing I knew him by. I actually officially became a fan this year after I bought "The Very Best Of Prince" and I been hook every since, and I try to buy all the albums. biggrin

Well there is a difference in playing a tinsy bit of a song, than actually singing it. But like the person said above. "To each his own" Everyone has their own opinion on things. I'm not judging, it's not my right. That's why we all have a opinion, which means, no right or wrong answer. It's just a thought and take on a matter. It's all good though, like I said, I don't want to argue. You said you don't want to argue so, let's just call it truce and be friends. Are you alright with that? biggrin

I was at that show. I think he was "teasing" the audience. After he made those statements and played the intro to "Darling Nikki", he laughed and said he was in rehab!!

Although I'm a Christian, I am glad that he has found Jehovah (GOD). I read somewhere it was his mother's dying wish. (??)

All in all, his performance at the Forum on 5/28 was AMAZING!!!!

I agree

doubt if it was his mother's dying wish. had alot to do with Larry Grahams influence. took Larry a few years

years to convince him. mom Mattie was a 7th day Adventist. Prince's SDA influenced him in his vegan and health

fitness ways

His Mother was a Jehovah's Witness when she passed..

I think the lyrics 'this one eye can take over 2 my mama's house and eye don't have to worry what goes in and outta mouth' was a reference to the matter.

Yes, the article also said his mother also wanted him to marry. It wasn't only Larry Graham, it was a cumulation of everything that had happened to him. Both his parents dying right after the other, death of his child, divorces (not exactly in this order), made him finally realize that he needed a Higher Power to cope. (IMHO)

I am sure his mother had been preaching to him for years, being the good witness that she likely was, and larry's influence might just have been the dot over the I.

Soft & Wet Live? Is this on Dvd or cd?

What songs do you remember your mom playing from the album?

I don't know if you've had the pleasure of listening to songs like, "Teacher, Teacher," "Neon Telephone," and countless others, but his wealth of material that never made the cd's is like finding a buried trunk of "Diamond & Pearls." smile

It's from the 1986 Parade birthday concert.

It was long time ago but one of them I remember my mom playing was "When We're Dancing Close And Close." She loved that one, she still does.

Yes I have heard those two songs I really like Neon Telephone, All My Dreams, Rebirth Of The Flesh, etc. It's so many of them that I can't think of them all. You are right though seeking them out and hearing them it is like finding "a buried trunk of Diamonds And Pears" lol

Right now I can't stop playing "Wonderful Ass" smiling with great delight of the upside down, rightside up, however you want to look at it, funkiest tracks he's ever made. Since it's raining in Cali I'm also listening to "Splash."

1986 Parade birthday concert I have on Dvd, but I was hoping that you had a different version so that I could obtain it. Nevertheless, that version is sick but there use to be on Youtube if my memory is correct of a concert version back when he was on tour with the jealous man Rick James. I'm not certain though. There's got to be an early version on tape or dvd of him performing "Soft & Wet," and I "Gotta Have it."

Ahh, "When Were Dancing," man that's one of my favorites as well. "Still Waiting," is another favorite of mine from that album.

I personally like Pears better than Pearls:lol:

Seriously!! Well "Diamonds and Pearls" of course!! But like Prince, I was into my religion really deep in the 80's/90's and I did not listen to "worldly" music, so I missed a lot of this. I have recently been gifted a lot of his old music and have not had the chance to listen to it all.

I know this weather sux!!!! I want the SUN:-P

I am wearing my PURPLE headband today and it makes me feel connected to you know who:lol:

Right now I'm getting ready to take lunch but finally discovered the song, "Noon Rendezvous," which is a live recording and love it! Wendy's guitar short & sweet solo is very good! Correction the guitar solo is Prince and not Wendy.

I think the comment was meant to be funny, not taken seriously!! You are reading so much into that little statement. Thats just referencing a song he wrote years ago. He is teasing the audience with playing Darling Nikki. LOL I hope he aint in rehab, I'm ready for a new album! IDC if he is a JW or not, he still has it! He still works it out in the studio and on stage. And is still super sexy!! He cant change that ever...

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol
