This is my favorite scene from the movie because Apollonia jumps into the lake wearing only her panties and because Prince is really funny. We know this isn't Lake Minnetonka, but does anyone know which lake this scene was filmed at?

well i live in minnesota, and im pretty sure its not a lake at all.....its called "back waters", from the river, it sometimes floods, and creates little areas of water like this, and people think they r lakes.

Thats why apples was so grossed out after she jumped in.

Either way, she was a dumbass for doing it anyway so she deserved. I know it's a movie, but damn, homegirl had no self-respect and when she FINALLY did, it was kind of too late, I was like "bitch, whatever."

i have the special edition of purple rain and in the commentary (if not, some kind of special feature) i think they talk about that scene being filmed in two different places..? i dunno if they say what lake it was at though. they might've, but im not about to go put it in and find out

That commentary is hilarious. Apollonia jumps into the lake in Minnesota - and comes out of it in LA.

i often walk on the paths of the ECK temple (just about across the street from Paisley Park) and wish that the Lake was right there on the border of the ECK property. There is a lake/water there....and it looks beautiful in November and/or March/April. It sorta looks like the lake in Purple Rain.

Eagan is outside of Minneapolis proper, but it is definitely part of the Twin Cities metroplex.

Eagan Township. Not the city of Eagan. That's where the barn scene was filmed and most likely the lake scene.
