How would you cement Prince's legacy?

Time for a bit of fun.

With all these thread bemoaning Prince's current work (which I personally like), more and more fans are harping back to the good old days and looking for remasters. There lies the next problem. It doesn't seem like Prince is looking after the family jewels in the way we would like.

So if a magic wand was waved, and you were the manager of his empire. How would you handle it? How would you cement is legacy?

Ok, here's my pitch.

1. Strike a deal with WB now for early master release for part income of sale.

2. Open a straight forward internet archive and store.

3. Release the 78-90 albums as remastered triple discs. Disc 1 - The album, Disc 2 - Extended, B-sides, demos. Disc 3 - Unreleased material. Include original artwork, photo shoots and Artist commentary. Put them all in a mini vinyl lookalike case that is built to last.

4. Stagger the releases - 6 in year one, 6 in year two. Put on the biggest world tour ever to support it, and make each show centric to an era, randomly (with greatest hits at the end of each show for casuals).

5. Sell at each show a double disc live CD/DVD of one of the orginal shows from the era.

6. Release a new triple disc set of unreleased material (not featured on the remasters) called "Crystal Ball 2".

7. Through the website, make available all WB protoge albums and tracks as digital downloads.

8. Create a music club called "The Old Breed" where fans can buy obscure demos, alternates and mixes.

9. Release a hardcore fan limited box set of aftershows called "When the lights go down".

10. Release a hardcore fan limited box set of abandoned projects, from The Rebels to 20ten Duluxe, called "The Deam Factory".

11. Continue to make new music and do several shows a year seperate from world tour where the hits don't feature.

That will do for starters!!

What would you do??

.

We all know that he should die. The whole world would know of him again.

Of course I don't want it to happen, so right now I'm happy with this "no promotion-no physical Cd's" shit...

I'd just : 1.) make sure his entire catalog was remastered, and remastered WELL.

And 2.) allow his videos, movies, unreleased songs and concert performances to be up on YouTube, in excellent quality and in their entirety.

Then I'd just let the work speak for itself. *nods*

Yep, just had multiple o's and this is only a list. It would be great if someone in his camp took some notes from this.

Since you have it all listed out, how much would you charge for each thing?

How much should seats be at the concert?

How much for the box sets etc. I'm interested in what you have 2 say smile

Shockedelicus

A Beatles-type box set collecting:
The remastered Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Parade, Sign 'O' the Times, The Black Album, Lovesexy
An extra two discs for the best unreleased tracks from that era.
A B-side compilation.
A Blu-Ray set of videos, interviews, Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon, Sign 'O' the Times and Lovesexy in Dormund '88.
A book with info on the whole purple era.
Some cool bonus stuff like a cheaper opus, a raspberry beret, guitar picks, etc.

Predictable, but who wouldn't want that? Casual fans need some love too.

What would be a cool idea as it's the in thing, with each re release to do a series of shows where the whole album is performed from front to back. i know that it will NEVER happen due to the freakyness of the old material and he ain't that way anymore but it'd still be cool,

cool
