Opening Gambits... Questions that might make for more interesting Prince interviews... The Guardian piece, this last Friday, is entertaining and full of Prince-isms that make us laugh, smirk, cringe and wish we had a dart gun with which to take him down and prevent him from uttering such bilge and offensive excrement.
However, what we don't appear to have is a first-quesion-a-thang that would give us control over the first question he is asked in an interview... the question that sets the tone and gives Prince an insight into the knowledge and understanding of his career todate of the person interviewing him.
What would be your first question?
Some ideas of mine...:
1. "Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance" is a genius song, why is it ok to go after an`ugly, uncoordinated lady, when you won't accept prejudice in other aspects of your song-writing?
2. Emancipation was a success, why didn't you stick to the write/release regime you promised fans you would do prior to the cutting of the bonds of slavery that tied you to Warner Brothers?
3. If you 'are music' and you once heralded the idea of 'free music', why is you vault still closed?
4. You talk about music being recorded and ready for release... you say you're going on strike until the music industry i sorted out... Do the first releases, from the vault, include In All My Dreams and In A Large Room With No Light? If not, why not?

No matter what you ask him, you will always get one of his wimsy replies. are some off topic reply, that leads the interviewer right into Prince's palm, and throws the interview in some uncomfortable mood. Sorry P interviews aint your thang
I cant take his interviews of today, the old ones werent the best, but they had their moments of enlightment, or brief humor. But now P interviews are sadly a form of torture. I like him best, when he speaks less, and plays more.
