Something In The Water-Neon Rendezvous

I brought out an old cd yesterday of Neon Rendezvous. It struck me again as being so special when I heard SITW(DC). Geez. It was sublime. Such a sweet take, sweet recording, sweet guitar work. Incredible.

I love the part of that where he's doing chromatic runs and it sounds like water filling a glass. cool

The BEST thing be has done imo. That guitar solo is the greatest. I was disappointed with the actual Birthday Show performance as it was not even half as powerful as the Neon rehearsal.

It sounds like you mean the studio version. If so you've explained that weird sound that nobody could explain. I always called it a rubber being pulled off a dick sound lol

Nope. Neon Rendezvous version from about 10:10 to 10:25.

I wonder was he nervous on it because of Sheila E...

Love it, but his falsetto wasn't always on point... would have been cool to have Sheila come up on stage and sing it.

I wonder if he had given the song to her yet

Were talking about Somegthng In The Water, not the song Noon Rendezvous. Both songs performances are on a boot called 'Neon' Rendezvous, a bootlegging happenstance mistake.

And regarding Noon Rendezvous, by the time that he sang it at the perfomrance it had to have been given to her, as Glamourous Life was released that month.

I always preferred the Birthday show versions of songs over the rehearsal b/c the songs and the playing are taken more seriously since its in front of audience. But gotta love the "Gotta Shake This Feeling Baby" (basically Purple Rain) song biggrin wink Only reason I'd return to the boot

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Yeah I'm talking about Neon/Noon Rendezvous from the June 7 1984 show where Sheila E was in the audience & he dedicated Neon Rendezvous to Sheila E.

Is this live or just a rehearsal your talking about?

Yeah your right, Glamorous Life was released June 4th

I was talking abuot Something In The Water.

Both are live (Water and Noon) ..one each is from the rehearsal and one from the actual concert that night so both are live but one without the audience.

I like both. The rehearsal versions are much longer and very unique, but I also love the actual live version. This is one of my favorite bootlegs.
