future baby mama

this song is so smooth and melodic and sexy and sweet and he sings it so perfect and the instrumentation is so cool and the backing vocals are just plain lovely - this is just as catchy as anything he would do in his so called glorious days - it so great.... and his almost crying (from 3:50) in the improvised vocals at the end of the song is so soulful - would love an extended version of this one....

did this song win a grammy or something - and did it get any radio airplay anywhere?

just my two cents...

i think musically and vocally...its amazing...it sort of floats along and has a real summers day vibe to it.....it did get a good bit of airplay on r&b radio in the states...made the top 40 chart and won a grammy....best r&b male vocal or something...

I really like this song, and also think it's completely like the 80's style Prince in his getting into girlfriend psychology mixed with seduction mode in a braggart way. That's outside of the fact that it's produced 80's style.

I love this song. The part at the beginning sounds like a baby mobil the things that hang over the crib. It's a very sweet song. I love it

I love it and it's one of those rare songs that doesn't lose any momentum in the last part of the song.

Its a masterpiece! It ranks right up there 2 me in his top ballads. The return of the Lynn Drum machine fits the beat perfectly. His vocal arrangement is esqusite. The lyrics classic Prince. It is still played on radio KJLH here in LA. He won the 2008 Grammy 4 Best Male R&B Vocal Performance(which is being discontinued) .

From 2012, all solo and duo/group vocal performances in the R&B category will be shifted to the newly formed Best R&B Performance category.

"Future Baby Mama"

eye 've heard it said my lovers look alike
Could it be that eye was looking 4 U
They were cool but something wasn't right
They had me fooled 4 a minute and then eye saw the truth

[Chorus]
None of them got what it takes
2 B a future baby mama
Gotta bend in the wind, but don't break
2 keep your man
Show me 1 of them and eye 'll make her mine
With no more drama
Future baby mama

eye 've heard it said that eye won't treat U right
(U know that ain't right babe)
But they ain't sure 'cos they don't know nothing about U
(U know what U want baby)
U're too secure to ever want to fuss and fight
(That's right)
That's why Ur man never ever got a reason 2 doubt U

[Chorus]

Yeah eye know U might be fine but eye 've seen it all before
Cinderella was a waste of time and oops she's out the door
2build a house together the thing that matters more
Is under the floor
A strong foundation that last forever more

eye want to make U happy, baby,
(Oh yes)
Happier than happy itself
(Oh yes)
U know what?
If you'll ever need a hand, call me eye 'll help
'Cos eye got U, anywhere U wanna go, uh
(Oh yes)
Paris, London, Africa, San Lucas Mexico, U C,
eye know what U want,
What every good woman wants
A man so in love with U
He can't help but to flaunt U
Deep down I know what U want
You want your girlfriends 2 hate U
'Cos they can't get Ur man

[Chorus] prince

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I'm not a big fan of the Planet Earth CD but what gem this is! I love the vocal arrangements and the melody. Puts me in a great mood everytime I listen to it.

I love it... my wife who is no Prince fan loves it as well... mainly because the lyrics

Being in a relationship that works requires bending but not breaking, it requires loyalty and faith and intuition

Prince is the shit

Yes, it was his 7th Grammy Award. Prince won Best R'nB Vocal Performance for "Future Baby Mama" from the album Planet Earth. On this song you can here the Twinz, Bria, Shelby and Marva King.

Really like the song!
